16 New European Director of Sales & Marketing Announced

Marco Snikkers has joined the PIXELTEQ team as Director of Sales and Marketing in Europe. Snikkers brings to PIXELTEQ more than 15 years of experience in the photonics sector, including leading the European market since 2006 as commercial director for Ocean Optics. At PIXELTEQ he will direct all sales and marketing activity for the European markets from his base in the Netherlands.

“Snikkers’ knowledge of the spectroscopy and semiconductor market will help us to increase the support towards our customers for our new line of spectral sensing products,” said Randel Mercer, VP business development at PIXELTEQ.

During his time with Ocean Optics, Snikkers successfully led the sales team in expanding to Eastern Europe, Africa and the Middle East and growing the OEM customer portfolio. He previously worked as sales manager for Europe and Asia in the semiconductor laser field and as product applications manager for a Dutch photonics startup company. Snikkers started his career as a research engineer of high-speed lasers for Philips Research and has a Bachelor of Science degree in applied physics. PIXELTEQ applies micro-patterned dichroic filters on glass or semiconductor wafers, helping OEMs shrink multi-wavelength sensors into one package or enable new optical features in today’s semiconductor sensors. It also allows for cost-effective multispectral imaging in a variety of industrial vision applications.

New Optical Emission Spectrometer for Metals Analysis

Spectroscopy Leader Releases iOS Mobile Application to Apple’s iTunes Store

Ocean Optics has released a mobile application for iOS devices to the iTunes Store. The free application allows users of Apple’s iPhone, iPod touch and iPad to access helpful spectroscopy calculators, browse application data and access the latest technical product information on Ocean Optics spectrometers, sensors, light sources, and fibre optic capabilities. The complete application is available at https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ocean-optics/id598298421?mt=8.

“Ocean Optics understands the importance of staying connected to our customers. We are always looking for new ways to provide useful applications, spectroscopy and product information in formats our customers use every day,” said Michael Allen, Ocean Optics Director of Marketing & Product Development. “Mobile devices have become such an integral part of our everyday life that having access to Ocean Optics product information in a mobile format is as important as a website or a catalogue. Ultimately, our goal is to provide customers with the information they need, in the format they want, whenever and wherever they need it.”

The Ocean Optics mobile application is compatible with Apple iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad devices running the iOS 6.0 or later operating system.

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc have introduced the Thermo Scientific ARL iSpark OES spectrometer, an instrument designed to provide precise, accurate and reliable metals analysis.

The ARL iSpark spectrometer, designed for high- speed, high-throughput analysis, helps metallurgists achieve higher productivity and quality and deliver savings on operational cost.

“The ARL iSpark offers metallurgists fast analysis, which increases efficiency and reduces costs, especially when working with molten metals,” said Dr Ravi Yellepeddi, Director of Marketing, Thermo Fisher. “Higher accuracy reduces raw materials waste and improves production quality by enabling metallurgists to confirm precise concentrations of elements, down to parts per million.”

New Videos Provide Users with Remote Training

Jenway has released four new videos that demonstrate the features of the Genova Nano Micro-volume spectrophotometer. The videos can be accessed on the Bibby Scientific YouTube page and lead viewers through the use of the Genova Nano. Three of the videos demonstrate how perform a standard measurement, remove the micro-volume accessory and add a printer. Users can therefore achieve best practice from the start and be sure of getting the maximum value from the spectrophotometer by ensuring accurate and reliable results. The final video introduces and explains the features of the Genova Nano, assisting prospective customers with purchasing decisions.

The Genova Nano is Jenway’s first three in one spectrophotometer, with the ability to function as a life science, standard or micro-volume instrument. It is ideal for the measurement of DNA, RNA and proteins in volumes as low as 0.5µl, and will detect DNA concentrations down to 2ng/µl. Protocols and results can be saved to a USB stick, and high sample throughput is achieved with a combination of fast reading times of less than 6.5 seconds and a simple cleaning procedure. The Genova Nano is supported by a 3 year warranty that includes the Xenon lamp.

The Bibby Scientific YouTube channel allows customers to watch videos from each of the company’s Jenway, Techne, Electrothermal and Stuart brands in one convenient location. To view the new Genova Nano videos, along with others from across the range, please visit www.youtube.com/bibbyscientific.

Optical emission spectrometry, which analyses the emitted light from spark excitation of a metallic sample, is one of the most reliable and accurate means of characterising the composition of metals and alloys. ARL iSpark integrates the PMT and CCD detection technologies to provide high performance analysis while maintaining versatility to cover a wide range of elements.

ARL iSpark spectrometer is factory-calibrated to the user’s specifications, allowing it to reliably quantify the specific elements of interest to each facility. ARL iSpark series is designed to provide optimum solutions to primary metal producers, medium to high level metal processors and foundries, recyclers and central laboratories as well as contract/analytical service labs.

The ARL iSpark OES spectrometer also includes a simplified, operator-level user interface, designed to allow non-scientists to operate the device while more advanced features are available for laboratory and QC/QA managers.
