SKINCARE SOLUTIONS

At some time or other we will all experience a problem with our skin, it may be too dry, too oily or have unwanted signs of ageing. Laura from BeCalmed Wellbeing and Medi-Spa, an expert in this field, has some suggestions for some of the biggest skin care woes

M Skin tags

Skin tags are small lumps of fleshy brown, tan, or pink skin. They are usually raised or hang from the skin on a small stalk. They often grow on the eyelids, neck, armpit, and groin and can be caused by clothing rubbing against the skin. These can easily be removed also using thermoesclerosis.

Dark spots and skin blemishes

Age spots or sunspots are the result of prolonged exposure to the sun. Excess melanin is generated in certain areas causing brown spots to appear. We have the solution. Our ESPA Deep Cleansing Facial uses a Clarisonic brush which gives a deep cleanse and exfoliation. Alternatively, we can use Intense Pulse Light (IPL) which breaks up the concentrated areas of melanin.

any problems can be alleviated with a good skincare routine - making sure you keep your skin hydrated and also protected from the elements is essential and

modern technology can come to our aid. Red veins

Broken blood vessels, also called “spider veins”, occur when they’re dilated, or enlarged, just beneath your skin’s surface. This results in small, red lines that spread out into a web- shaped form. Broken blood vessels can happen to anyone at any age. There are many causes: heredity, pregnancy, rosacea, sun exposure, hot weather, environmental or chemical irritants, alcohol consumption and injuries. While harmless, broken blood vessels can become a nuisance if they make you self- conscious. The good news is that spider veins are typically treatable. Utilising the principle of thermoesclerosis, an ultra-fast radio frequency of 27.12 MHz which sends a pulse from the tip of a filament for precision and accuracy, treating and giving instant, visible results.

Acne and acne scarring

We have several solutions for this problem that afflicts all ages. We recommend a consultation where we can analyse your skin and give you the correct remedy.

Ingrowing hairs

Ingrown hairs are a problem that affects men and women. It is caused when hairs curl around and grow back into your skin instead of rising up from it. Sometimes, dead skin can clog up a hair follicle. That forces the hair inside it to grow sideways under the skin, rather than upward and outward. Sometimes, shaving or cutting naturally curly hair too closely will result in the sharpened end of the hair piercing the skin, causing an ingrown hair. You can treat them by not removing the hair in that area until the ingrown hair goes away. Apply warm compresses. Remove dead skin by gently washing and exfoliating around the ingrown hair to help the hair return to the surface of the skin. If that doesn’t work, book in with one of our experienced therapists who can remove the hair for you using sterile tweezers.

If you are prone to this problem, we recommend having Microdermabrasion. Regular in salon treatments like Microdermabrasion will help gently exfoliate the dead skin cells and clear hair follicles, allowing hair to surface. This treatment is available at Finishing Touches in Cowes.

So, whatever your skincare concern is, we can help you.
