HuffPost UK is teaming up with Birmingham City University’s School of Media to give the next generation of journalists first-hand experience of the media industry. As part of the new initiative,
the HuffPost will set students real-world challenges, leading tutorials focused on news, lifestyle, politics and entertainment and hosting talks – all of which will be held within the newly-created HuffPost Centre for Journalism. Students will also be given
the opportunity to spend time with the editorial team with the offer of work experiences in the newsroom. Jess Brammar, executive
editor of HuffPost UK, said: “We love what Birmingham City University is about – quality learning, that is focused on students and what they care about. It’s exciting to be working with such a diverse student body. “At HuffPost, we talk a lot
about how important it is to report the UK as people actually experience it and we can't wait to help shape the next generation of journalists.” Dr Sarah Jones (pictured,

The media landscape is changing and this exciting new partnership will allow us all to make a real difference in ensuring the future of journalism reflects the society we live in.”

(Venue) of Wasps Group said: “Wasps and Ricoh Arena have developed some fantastic relationships with the Birmingham business community that are suppliers to us as well as hospitality clients, and becoming a patron of GBCC is an ideal way of building upon this. “We have hosted and attended
various networking events in and around the city and have seen first- hand the variety and vibrancy of
the city’s business community, which we were keen to be a part of.”

New chief executive for financial experts
Specialist financial services provider Wesleyan has appointed Mario Mazzocchi as its new group chief executive. Mario, who was previously the chief operating officer, succeeds Craig
Errington who is retiring after 15 years as chief executive and 28 years with the company. He said: “This is a very special business with a fantastic proposition for
our professional customers and a great reputation because of that. “My focus will be on developing a more agile business ready to respond
to the challenges of the future, with a continued commitment to driving value for our members while delivering the best service for our customers. “I am looking forward to working with the committed and professional
employees we have across the Group to make Wesleyan the number one choice for our customers.” Mario joined Wesleyan as chief operating officer moving from Lloyds
Banking Group where he was chief operating officer for the Insurance and Wealth division. He spent 15 years at Lloyds working across a number of functions within
the group including marketing, sales, change, strategy and operations across retail, corporate banking and insurance.
