YEAR 8
Year 8 have had a bumper term so far and I am again incredibly proud to be their Progress Leader. Students have worked tirelessly to achieve excellent results in their MBUs and have channelled their energies into success.
The Christmas celebration assembly was, as per usual, a festive time of fun, laughter and jovial singing. A massive thank you to Mrs Davies and Mrs Thorne who stepped in to do the assembly at the last minute, I know the students really appreciated your enthusiasm and energy. A huge well done to all the students who achieved rewards but a particular well done to the tutees of the term as selected by their tutors.

This week saw year 8 working hard to raise money for charity. We had karaoke at lunchtime, sponge the year 8, guess the sweets in the jar and a teacher lip sync battle. A huge thankyou to all the pupils and staff involved, let’s hope that when the monies are counted it reflects all your hard work.
MBU’S
Many students have worked really hard to ensure that they make improvements from their last Mark Book Update assessment. Please do encourage your child to revise sensibly for these. The idea of doing this in year 8 allows your child to be fully competent with the structure by the time they get to year 11 therefore giving them the best possible chance of success. If there are any concerns about how to effectively support your child in the run up to the next set of exams please contact their subject teachers in the first instance then their tutors or myself, Mr Anderson – Progress Leader.
YEAR GROUP COMMENTS 8.1
As always 8.1 have been a pleasure to tutor. They are a fantastic group of hard working, conscientious, creative, resilient, successful students who work so well together and have a positive impact on life at Matravers.
