OTHER NEWS CAREERS

The Matravers annual careers fair took place on Thursday 19th March with all students from Year 7-11 having the opportunity to meet a wide range of

employers and further education providers to find out more about careers available to them. We welcomed employers from Dyson, Greatwood Charity, Wiltshire Police, Wessex Archaeology, Sovereign Housing, Careerpilot, Bath Spa University, University of Law, MIDAS and NCS.

As well as entertaining students through various chemical reactions, including comparing explosions of hydrogen and helium gas filled balloons, students started to consider the perils of carbon dioxide emissions. Throughout each talk academic mastery of key scientific terminology was modelled, identifying various misconceptions we often fall into, such as flammable and inflammable being interchangeable, compared to non-flammable. We also had the opportunity to host students from nearby schools, staff and parents to a twilight lecture, where guests also
