SENIOR STUDENT REPORT
With the final exams looming, the atmosphere in the sixth form has shifted, and there is a healthy amount of revision and study. It is interesting to see the lower year students develop and truly settle into their courses and their pathways, but also to see them realise the intensity of their courses and adjust accordingly. The introduction of Mrs Bowler as an aid to all sixth form students has been extremely useful, especially to those of us who need a ‘push’ towards whatever our future plans may be.
With the new building growing more and more each day and discussions about a school council so as to promote the thoughts and ideas of students in the younger years, we are sure that next year will be the next step towards a world class school.

PRIMARY OUTREACH & ENGAGEMENT
This has been a busy term for Primary Outreach, with lots of events taking place.
The term started with a Storytelling workshop for the students of Dilton Marsh who came to Matravers on the 28th of January.
Dilton brought all of Year 5 and Year 6 to Matravers to take part in the workshop. The year 5 students looked at Myths and Legends and the Year 6 students were studying Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes. They got the chance to do some Drama workshops and write their own Myth or Revolting Rhyme. Myself and Miss Hughes were leading the workshops and we had a fantastic time with the students of Dilton Marsh. At the end, we were also treated to some superb performances. Thank you Dilton for your enthusiasm and passion.
The Stretch and Challenge workshops have been brilliant this Term. So far, we have had Perfect Potions, Cool Computers and Fantastic Food. Mrs Church and Miss Holland lead the Perfect Potions workshop, where Year 5 students got the chance to find out which household items were the best at fizzing. Then in Cool Computers, Miss Derwas and Mr Hartley taught the students how to code their own game. We finished the term with Ms Byrne and Miss helping the students make amazing pizzas. There are still some fantastic
workshops to come, including one lead by Dr Riding.
This term has also seen the start of our performing Arts workshops. This time Year 5 students have been studying a Year 7 assessment script and using it to create Drama, Music, Dance performances. Mrs Plomer led the first workshop, where some very talented Year 5 students were able to put their acting skills to the test. Then in the Music workshop, the students created some amazing Samba rhythms. This fantastic music was then used for the students to create a dance. Miss Richards did an amazing job with this workshop and the students were extremely proud of what they had created.
Finally, as we go to press I am preparing for the Cadets workshop in the last week of this term. This will see a large number of Year 5 students coming to Matravers to experience an afternoon with the Combined Cadet Force.
