YEAR 10 A WORD FROM MISS CHESTERS
Another term passes by and Year 10 continue to develop and improve in many different areas. Over the last two terms they have demonstrated their commitment to Matravers Core Values in a multitude of different ways. Ambition was illustrated through their questions and queries at the Careers Fair – a great opportunity to explore possibilities and find out more about potential paths for post-16 and beyond. A large amount of Year 10 students showed their creativity through their participation in Dance in Action – a wonderful event where not only did we see Year 10 students perform in their teaching groups but also in supporting older GCSE and A Level students in their exam pieces. Creativity was also demonstrated through wonderful World Book Day costumes – especially to Matthew Clinch for winning as Jekyll and Hyde. A group of 30 students in the Year group have signed up for the Future Leaders Award where they have started work on developing their dynamism through a range of activities and tasks. The amount of awards and celebrations have definitely been a source of happiness over the last term – we continue to celebrate successes in assemblies for excellent attendance, perfect behaviour, Tutees of the Month and it has been my pleasure to host 2 tutor group reward events for being the tutor group with the most Core Value Points and best attendance. The latest exam period has been a demonstration of resilience with students taking on board feedback from their teachers and working hard on revision both in and out of school. As I write I haven’t seen the overall results from MBU2 exams but I have been told many a story of success from teachers and students in many subject areas.
Congratulations Year 10! Keep up the hard work and dedication – this time next year you will be preparing for your final GCSE and Btec exams!
CELEBRATION ASSEMBLY TERM 2
As is now a Matravers tradition we complete each term with a celebration assembly. An hour and half of reward, celebration and fun. Students with excellent attendance, perfect behaviour records, impressive progress in learning and most core value points were praised for their positive contributions. Alongside successes in individual subject areas we also celebrated our winners of the Progress Leader, Pastoral Manager and SMT link awards for really standing out from other students.
Pastoral Managers Award – Ellena Bardbeer SMT Link Award – Sammy Kirk and Rachel Godden Progress Leader Award – Gustavo Pereirra dos Santos
In amongst all the sweets and certificates we also enjoyed a fabulous performance of Pina Colada by Toby Robinson and tutor groups competing to see who could sing Christmas songs at the highest volume. A little Karaoke and a few more tutor group games completed the proceedings!
Well done to all who received recognition, be proud of your achievements.
