By Dan Harrison
The success of Greater Birmingham’s retailers will be recognised with the return of the Excellence in Retail category at the Chamber’s 2019 annual dinner and awards, which promises to be bigger and better than ever. The black tie event is taking place at the ICC
in Birmingham on Thursday, 11 April, 2019 – with award entries now open via the Chamber website.
‘The annual dinner provides a phenomenal platform for firms of all sizes to raise their profile’
Birmingham City University have been
confirmed as the first headline sponsor. The Excellence in Retail category – previously
won by Selfridges and Loki Wine – will be one of 10 sector awards handed out on the night. The category has been reintroduced to
showcase some of Greater Birmingham’s success
stories in the retail sector at a time when the Bourn is struggling. One of the sector winners will then be crowed
Greater Birmingham Business of the Year, succeeding the 2018 winners Curium Solutions. Businesses from around the region are invited
to enter the following categories: • Excellence in Contribution to the Community • Excellence in Customer Service • Excellence in Hospitality • Excellence in International Business • Excellence in Manufacturing • Excellence in People Development • Excellence in Retail • Excellence in Sales & Marketing • Excellence in Technology & Innovation • Excellence in Training & Education
Tables are now on sale at an ‘earlybird’ price
of £999 (plus VAT). Email events@birmingham-
chamber.com for more information. There are also a host of sponsorship opportunities available. Entertainment and an awards host will be announced in the coming weeks.
New Chamber president Saqib Bhatti will give
his first Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC) annual dinner address on the night. Paul Faulkner, chief executive of GBCC, said:
“The Chamber’s annual dinner and awards is undoubtedly one of the highlights of the region’s business calendar. “Around 1,300 people packed into the ICC for
this year’s dinner and we anticipate the demand for 2019 to be even greater, so I would encourage businesses to book early and take advantage of the early bird offer. “As well as celebrating the success of local
businesses, the annual dinner provides a phenomenal platform for firms of all sizes to raise their profile. “We believe our 10 sector awards categories
provide opportunities for all Greater Birmingham businesses, large and small. “We also have a range of sponsorship
packages to suit everyone, including main headline sponsorships and individual award categories, through to pre-drinks and table sponsors.”
