One of the most common and hardest threats to detect is Spear Phishing. This particular hack is caused by employees often clicking on an email attachment in a highly targeted email, which then triggers malware to download to their computer, giving the hackers entry into
the organisation's network where they can then move laterally in search of sensitive and valuable information. Threats like these can be easily avoided by providing the correct training.
If senior executives want to keep their data safe they need to create a workspace where everyone is culturally aware of cyber and data protection securities. In order to achieve this, simple steps can be taken such as implementing a basic cyber security training programme, strong passwords policy, running regular mock-attacks to test ongoing awareness and having a data recovery strategy in place.
