Youngsters step up charity fundraising


Youngsters at Balsall Common Primary School slipped into something more comfortable for the day – slippers – to raise cash for Age UK Solihull. The ‘Slip into Slippers’ event raised £436


for the charity. Lorraine Hart, fundraising manager at the charity, said: “It was great to see so many schools, staff and local business people take part this year. “We are so pleased with the success of


this year’s event. We started with only two schools and, year on year, it’s grown in popularity.” This is the fifth year that Balsall Common


Primary has taken part in fundraising for Age UK Solihull and has so far has raised £5,692 for the charity.


Moors extends two players’ contracts


Promotion-hunting Solihull Moors have announced that two young players have extended their current deals at the club until the end of the 2019/2020 season. Callum Coyle, 19, has been at the Moors


for three years, has a handful of first-team appearances to his name and has been flourishing while on loan at Hednesford Town. The midfielder has won ‘Man of the Match’ on a number of occasions. Dan Sweeney made an impact at the club


after scoring the winner on his debut away match at Eastleigh. The forward has scored six goals in seven games, including a hat- trick against Matlock Town. Sporting director Mark Fogarty said:


“These deals are further evidence that the board of directors and indeed the manager are fully motivated in our vision to bring through our own players. “It will send out a message that we


believe in our young players and also understand that development takes time.”

Chamber reaches member milestone

Solihull-based NEC Group Arenas has been a part of a significant milestone for Solihull Chamber of Commerce. The arena’s new attraction, Bear Grylls


Adventure, has signed up as the 300th member of the Chamber. Solihull Chamber grew by 4.2 per cent from


April to November, following the appointment of a three-strong team led by Lillian Elekan. Lillian has been joined by membership


executive Samantha Frampton and group business development manager Edward Wilson, to grow membership of the Chamber. Ms Elekan said: “The team at Solihull Chamber,


and Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, are delighted to welcome a dynamic business on at a significant milestone for the Chamber. “Solihull is currently enjoying a huge amount of success and investment, and this is having a


very positive impact on the business community. “The growth of the Chamber is a mirror to the


region’s success, and the Chamber will continue to support and connect more businesses looking to grow and benefit from this positive, regional climate.” • NEC Group Arenas has appointed Liam Dyde


and Mohammed Waseem as the organisation’s first electrical apprentices. Throughout their apprenticeship, they will be undertaking a mixture of theory and practical work, which will include developing their knowledge in testing, inspection and delivery of the electrical supplies. The pair will also gain specialist knowledge


about temporary large scale electrical supplies and distribution. One day per week in term time will also be spent at Solihull College for additional practical and theory lessons.


Prime adds to its numbers


A Solihull-based accountancy firm has expanded into Birmingham with its latest acquisition. Prime Accountants Group has acquired


Rochesters Chartered Accountants, based in the Jewellery Quarter. This will expand Prime’s workforce to 100 staff, 12 directors and two consultants – making them one of the largest independent firms in the region. Stephen Rochester, partner at Rochesters said:


“We are all looking forward to joining the Prime team and being able to draw upon the additional resource that Prime is able to offer. “Our clients will of course continue to


experience the same service level and contact with us as they have become accustomed to, but now also be able to benefit from an additional range of services.” As part of the merger, Rochesters Chartered


Accountants will be rebranded as Prime Rochesters, and Nicola Davies has been appointed as a new director.
