Sponsors on board for Growth Through People

By Jessica Brookes

Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce’s (GBCC) flagship productivity campaign, Growth Through People, has confirmed the first sponsors for 2019. It will run from 25 February to 22

March, and will comprise four themed weeks including Growth Through Responsible Leadership week, Growth Through Attracting and Developing Talent week, Growth Through Unlocking Potential week and Growth Through Workplace Resilience week. The University of Birmingham’s

Business with Birmingham has been confirmed as the Growth Through Responsible Leadership week sponsor and Curium Solutions are backing the Growth Through Unlocking Potential. The organisations will be supporting the Chambers’ annual

campaign, which aims to help local firms boost productivity through improved leadership and management skills. The campaign is delivered by the Chambers alongside a range of partners and includes free training sessions, workshops and events alongside research and thought leadership content. Paul Faulkner, chief executive at

the GBCC, said: “Growth Through People is a fantastic opportunity for business to develop their leadership and management skills and ensure they are getting the most out of their people. “We are very excited to be

working with Business with Birmingham as sponsors of the Responsible Leadership week of Growth Through People 2019. “The University of Birmingham

Birmingham, and we very much look forward to hearing the insights of some of their academics. “Curium won the Chambers’

award for Excellence in People Development earlier this year and of course went on to win the coveted Business of the Year award. They have a wealth of experience working with businesses to empower and unlock the potential of employees.” Professor Kiran Trehan, director of

external engagement and professor of leadership and enterprise development at Business with Birmingham, said: “We have chosen to sponsor Growth Through People’s responsible leadership week as we look to support the debate on responsible leadership, and provide academic evidence to inform the discussion with key stakeholders.” Anne Clews, head of

performance learning at Curium Solutions, said: “We are looking forward to working with Chamber members to empower their potential, helping them to grow and succeed.”

‘Meat’ the city’s newest restaurant

Brazilian restaurant Fazenda has opened its doors in Birmingham, creating 70 new jobs. All positions in the restaurant

have been filled by Birmingham- based staff. The management team, kitchen

staff and passadores – who carve 15 different cuts of meat at the table – are being trained extensively in sister restaurants in the North West. The venue is capable of seating

220 diners for its rodizio-style service. Around £2m has been spent on

the 10,000 sq ft restaurant at 55 Colmore Row, which will mark Fazenda’s fifth opening. As well as its premium meat and

gourmet sides offerings, the restaurant serves fish, vegetarian and vegan options, and has built a reputation for quality wine.
