their Championship cam- paign last
Our hurlers kicked off Wednesday
evening on a perfect Cas- tletownroche surface with a fine victory over Shandrum on a scoreline of 3-19 to 2-09. We led at the break by
1-12 to 1-06 but a series of bad wides on the restart had us frustrated for a peri- od of time but we eventu- ally pulled away in the last quarter for the win. Well done to all the play-
ers and management. Team: Alan Power,
Adam Daly, Sean O’Sulli- van, Cathal Gunning, Eoin Moloney, Sean O’Leary Hayes (0-01), Seanaidh Smyth, Cormac Beausang (0-01), Kian Farmer (0- 02), Kevin Finn (1-02), Sean O’Meara (0-01), Tommy O’Connell (2-05, 4 free’s), Padraig O’Brien, Ross O’Regan (0-02) and Shane Finn (0-04). Camogie
(Camógaíochta) U11: We travelled to Fr
O’Neill’s on Saturday last to take part in an U9 blitz, we played St Finbarrs, Kil- leagh and
the hosts. The
girls played really well in all three matches. It was a great
afternoon of camo-
gie despite the odd shower. Thanks to Fr O’Neill’s for the invitation. U12: Our U12 blacks
met St Finbarrs on Satur- day last in Ballinacurra it was a mighty performance against
the ly strong traditional- camogie club.
There were great battles all over the pitch but we just came out on the right side of the result. We would like to thank the Barrs for a great game and thank to family and friends for the wonderful support our girls received on the day which they enjoyed and was well de- served.
U15/16: We
played a chal- lenge match last Friday evening v Dungourney
in
preparation for our upcoming matches, being

Ladies Football We made it two wins out
of two games in the East Cork Minor football league with a hard fought game against Watergrasshill last Tuesday evening in Midle- ton. We had only 13 girls available on the night and in fairness to WGH they matched our 13. This made the game a very open game of football and the referee on the night AJ Cronin al- lowed the game to flow and flow it did from one end to the other and both ways. A very entertaining sporting affair, we went in at
the
break one goal up, 1:4 to 0:4.
A few positional switches
at half time resulted in us taking control of the game and put in a fantastic rear guard performance
and
made work very difficult for
the WGH girls who
just could not break down our defence. Unbelievable way ward shooting from

1), Rhea Buckley, Claudia Kearney, Katie
Horgan,

Healthy Club The Healthy Club Pro-
ject currently in Phase 3 is a GAA initiative backed by Irish Life and Healthy Ireland. It is focused on improving the
health of
the nation by transforming GAA clubs into hubs for health. It capitalises on the key role
played by GAA
clubs in local communities and empowers clubs to deliver health and wellbe- ing information and pro- grammes directly to their
members and to the wid- er communities that
they
serve. On Sunday afternoon
we collaborated with St Finbarrs and Killeagh Healthy Clubs to show- case a little of what each club has achieved
to the St Finbarrs and Kil- leagh Senior game children from each of the clubs took centre stage with their re- spective flags earned from engaging with partners in the community to promote a health message members.
to our Midleton had
their RNLI Water Safety Flag, St Finbarr’s with their Pieta House Amber Flag and Killeagh with their Healthy Club Flag which recognises their success in achieving a completely Smoke Free GAA Grounds. We were very fortunate to have Lord Mayor Mick Finn in attendance togeth- er with Tracy Kennedy Chairperson Cork County Board, our own John Fen- ton, and Charlie McCar- thy from St Finbarr’s. The Healthy Club Showcase finished at half-time in the
St Finbarrs and Killeagh game when the children from across the three clubs took part in Novelty Obsta- cle Course. We would like to thank
Hurley’s SuperValu who sponsored the
fruit Prior that
was available to match at- tendees. We would to also thank the GAA Executive Committee for their sup- port with today’s showcase in particular Coleman Quirke who was a great help to the HCP Commit- tee. Special thanks to our wonderful young members Kate Saunderson, Ellen O’Neill, Ciara Murphy and Eva Saunderson who were flag bearers for today – well done girls!
