Cannonball Ireland Celebrating 10 years |
www.cannonball.ie
The official route for Cannonball 2018 has been announced and Cork will once again be hosting the supercar spectacle for the dramatic finish line on Saturday September 8th in the picturesque town of Blarney and overnight in 4 Cork City Hotels. The action packed supercar event had a brief pit stop in Kinsale last year but has not had a large scale event in Cork since 2014. Blarney was chosen to host the Saturday finish line of the 3 day event with free family entertainment and an electric atmosphere. Thousands are expected to line the streets to get up close and personal with the world’s top mark cars such as McLaren, Lamborghi- ni, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche, Masseratti, Rolls Royce and Bentley. Now in 2018, organisers have chosen Cork once again for the 10th year.

ISPCC Childline am- bassador and X Factor icon Louis Walsh got to grips with a Lamborgh- ini Diablo and a BMY i8 along Cannonball founder Alan Bannon earlier this month to announce that Childline will be the of- ficial charity partner for Cannonball 2018. This is a very special year for Ire- land’s supercar spectacle as the 10th
anniversary of
the event approaches and all Cannonballers reunite for the ultimate supercar road-trip!
Cannonball, the ac- tion-packed supercar spec- tacle, is set to roll on Sep- tember 7th
– 9th
Ireland. Top mark cars will blaze a trail through Dublin, Cavan, Donegal, Mayo, Spanish Point, Blar- ney, Cork, Tramore, Kilk- enny and Wexford taking in Ireland’s Ancient East, Hidden Heartlands and Wild Atlantic Way.
Cannonball has already
raised €960,000 for Irish charities and this year, the milestone of €1,000,000 raised for charities will be broken. The official chari- ty of Cannonball 2018 will be Ireland’s 24-hour lis- tening service for children and young people, Child- line. The Childline ser- vice answers over 380,000 contacts from children and young people across Ire- land each year who may feel lonely, hurt or anx- ious, or who may simply wish to chat about their day. Childline volunteers listen to, support and em- power children and young people, even when it may seem as though there is no-one else to listen. A call to Childline can change a child’s life.
Spectators will get up with over
190,000 people expected to line the streets all around
close and personal with 190 of the finest cars on the planet and enjoy the unique festival atmos- phere that Cannonball is renowned for. The Brazil- ian Dancers will bring all the glamour of carnival and the Monster Truck will have fire breathers and some great tunes to get the party started and some great free giveaways. Doc and Marty McFly will be Back to the Future this year in the fully kitted out Delorean and the no- torious NYPD, German Polizei, Fr Willie and col- ourful Cannonballers in crazy costumes add to the melee. From Spiderman to Star Wars, Cat Wom- an to Wonder Woman,
Cheerleaders to Charlie’s Angels, Batman, The Jok- er and more, it is a totally unique free family day out.
Cannonball, sponsored
by Hone, the revolution- ary new renewable energy provider, is the brainchild of Kildare businessman Alan Bannon. The bene- fit to the Irish economy of this event is estimated at €2,567,000 per year. The last 12 months have been pretty exceptional for Can- nonball Ireland. It went to America for the first time in October as well as making headlines in Scot- land, Wales and across the Continent with the excite- ment and spectacle that Cannonball is renowned for. Bannon hopes to grow his event business in the US over the next twelve months and is looking at new markets to bring supercar enthusiasts to Ireland to enjoy this very unique event. A Bugatti Chiron joined Cannonball for both the Highlands and Lions Trip this year. There are high hopes that this en- gineering masterpiece will make its debut appearance in Ireland for the 10th
An-
