54 East Cork just Killeagh 2-24 Bride Rovers 1-07
by DEREK KIELY BALLYNOE
MUCH improved Kil-
leagh dominated this ‘East Cork Oil’ JAHC match from the throw-in until the final whistle as they breezed past Bride Rovers into the quar- ter final at Ballynoe last Sun- day evening. It was a very bright start
to the match for Killeagh Aaron Walsh and Kevin Fen- nelly pointing in the opening minute. Rovers responded through
Ryan Prendergast, but Walsh and Dan Landers added an- other brace of scores by the fourth minute.
DL Cahill pointed back
for Bride Rovers, but then Killeagh accelerated the play
again with three scores with- out reply through Walsh and a brace from Keane Kelly/ Budds to lead by five points on the quarter mark. Connor Barry pointed for
Rovers, but again Killeagh put over three further scores without reply and were in complete
control. Barry
scored again for Rovers, but then another killer blow from Killeagh when Pad- raigh Leahy scored a great goal to give Killeagh a ten point lead. The
sides exchanged a
point each before the im- pressive Aaron Walsh had the final say of the first half with a free to give his side an eleven point lead at the short whistle. The second half was even
more devastating for Bride Rovers were
restricted to three scores, whereas
Killeagh were clinical with a goal from Padraigh Leahy, plus six further Walsh points, plus some great points from David Ógbebor in a half of hurling where Killeagh were on top from one to fifteen. With a much improved
performance from Killeagh who easily won this match, it sets things up nicely for the quarter final game with Lisgoold.

Sarsfields 0-15 Kildorrery 2-16
In Fermoy on Saturday
evening Kildorrery and Sarsfields also met in the In- termediate Hurling Cham- pionship. Conditions were not as good on this occasion but that did not stop Kildor- rery from coming out on top after a hard-fought en- counter. The Denis Walsh trained side were just that bit more clinical with Peter O’Brien,
James Keating
and Finbarr Stapleton who opened the scoring leading the way.
Eoin O’Sullivan, Ronan
Murphy and Dylan Walsh were keeping Sarsfields in touch and while Kildorre- ry looked the stronger side, they only led by a point at half time 0-8 to 0-7. The first goal was going to be vital and it went the way of Kildorrery with team cap- tain Peter O’Brien firing to the net. James O’Sullivan made it a five-point game but Sarsfields were not out of it just yet. Eoin O’Sullivan point- ed and then in a superb spell Sarsfields drew level with Shane Garvey, Dy- lan Walsh, James O’Leary and Eoin O’Sullivan all on target and it was game on
again. In that closing period Kildorrery again got back on top and a superb second goal
from James Keating
got them back on track and in the finish, they had five points to spare over a gal- lant Sarsfields outfit. Kildorrery: P O’Brien
1-5, J Keating 1-3, F Staple- ton 0-2, E O’Connor 0-2, J O’Sullivan and A O’Brien 0-1 each. Sarsfields: E O’Sullivan
