Poole Athletic Club Invictus Gold for Lindsay in
Toronto (centre of image) Disabled biker Lindsay C won gold in the IT5 Womens’ 100m and justifi ed her selection for the UK team. This was a great reward for
all her training at Ashdown. She also competed in the 200m, 400m and 1500m – so had a busy Games!
Southern and National Road Relays On a tough course at Crystal Palace in September, last year’s u13G Southern champions still managed (now as fi rst-year u15s) to race well and fi nish 7th of the 81 starters. The team consisted of Ashia W, Demi-Marie G, and Emilie C.
Then at Sutton Coldfi eld in October they fi nished just outside the top ten in the ERRA National race. 80 teams started. At the end of leg 1, Ashia was 16th, Demi fi nished her leg in 21st, and then Emilie pulled it back – despite a damaged wrist – to 11th of the 50 teams to fi nish. This was a great effort against the top teams in the country.
Wessex Cross-Country season opens. Poole AC hosted the fi rst match of the season at Limelights in October. The u11s had the best of
the weather, but the Seniors ran in gusting, driving rain! Over 300 runners participated. The best PAC performances of the 16 juniors and 19 seniors came from winners William R (u13B), Barry M (Senior Men), and Amy B (SW). Thanks to all involved and to the Youth Club for sharing their facilities with us.
Other news
In Part 2 of the Club Championships in September we just missed the rain and a well-supported meeting produced multiple PBs including FOUR new Club Records by the u11s!
Three u17M competed in the Exeter Open Pentathlon competition in September. For all three it was their fi rst ever multi-events and they achieved 1st (Lewis N 2590), 2nd (Tom C 2453) and 4th (Adam B 2163). This was a great initiative and we hope they persevere and develop their skills.
We also visited Victoria Education Centre in September for a ‘Come and try’ session with disabled athletes, as part of our ‘Inspirational Club’ project.
