Broadstone Scout Group Is Still Growing!
In July I wrote about the re-opening of Brookdale Cub Pack, which is now going from strength to strength.
From Easter, we started to run taster sessions for young people of Scout age and we were delighted that by July, we had a core of 10 young people keen to form a new Scout Troop, together with four adult volunteers willing to form a leadership team. They had great fun over those weeks doing, amongst other things, cooking and outdoor activities as well as learning a bit more about Scouting.
In September, the Scouts and their leaders had a fabulous evening on Poole Park Lake with staff from Rockley Water Sports, doing kayaking and paddle boarding. The evening culminated with both Scouts and their leaders making their Scout Promise balanced on paddle boards! Everyone had a fabulous time that they will remember for a long time to come.
The troop is continuing to grow and now numbers some 15 young people. They have just returned from their fi rst overnight experience and have also had several outdoor evenings at Delph Woods.
Of course, we still need to maintain our existing units and we are urgently seeking adults to support our Scout Troop on a Friday night.
If you are interested in getting involved in our
adventure, please
contact me for a non-committal chat. Our adults have as much fun as the young people!
