...any other business is a new page designed to help satisfy the huge demand the Chamber gets from members seeking to publicise their activities in our publications. We have now moved company appointments to our daily bulletin, ChamberlinkDaily, which goes out every morning to nearly 17,000 business and individuals across the West Midlands.
Software takes on the giants
An ambitious West Midlands digital start-up is attempting to take on the world’s tech giants with a new product aimed at simplifying bookkeeping for small businesses. Capewell Finance & HR has
been developed by Halesowen-based entrepreneur Raymond Liu, who spotted an opportunity after experiencing his own challenges around keeping track of company processes. The finance platform will
enable small businesses to record company income and expenditure at the tap of a screen or button, helping them to stay HMRC compliant. Businesses will be able to
create paper and e-invoices and email them to recipients, record purchases and expenses monitor petty cash expenditure. For many small business
users, the cost each month will amount to a little more than the price of a large latte, according to the firm. Raymond said:
“Bookkeeping and HR processes are a vital and unavoidable part of running a business but they can sometimes get in the way of what many of us went into business to do: deliver great services and products. “I searched high and low for
a software solution that could help me to simplify bookkeeping and HR. I found that other platforms on the market are good but are often quite complex. So, in the end I thought why not create my own solution. I did and it led me to think that this could potentially help a lot of other people. We’re already seeing lots of interest from small business owners.”

Start-up snack makes its delicious debut
New start-up Vittoria Enterprises is on the brink of launching the UK’s first premium plantain snacks, Purely Plantain Chips. Following extensive online research and focus groups, the Purely brand
was developed to denote the simple nature of the product which undergoes very little processing from raw plantain to finished snack. The first public sampling took place at the Foodie Festival in Birmingham
this June where feedback was extremely promising. Stefania Pellegrino, MD of Vittoria Enterprises, said: “Purely embodies
many of the attributes our target consumer looks for in a snack food – a healthier alternative to the ever popular potato crisp, suitable for both vegetarians and vegans, gluten-free, no GMO ingredients, is sustainably sourced and above all tastes absolutely delicious!” Purely Plantain Chips will be at the Speciality and Fine Food Fair at
London Olympia, from 3 to 5 September and the Bar & Pub Show, at the same venue from 2 to 4 October.

Hospital fundraising for guide dog
Staff at a Solihull hospital are planning a series of events to raise £5,000 towards training a guide dog puppy. Guide Dogs for the Blind Community Fundraiser
Felicity Stratton visited Spire Parkway Hospital and took along Leo – who is more than halfway through his training. Leading the fundraising is clinical governance
administrator Emma Flower. She said: “It’s a great chance for everyone at the hospital to get involved in what is a fantastic cause. I’ve already received lots of positive responses so I’m confident we will raise £5,000.” The dog will be called Parkway – Parky for short – if
it’s a boy and Sparkle if it’s a girl. Hospital director Tony Yates added: “This is something
I have wanted to get involved with for years. Guide dogs can transform the lives of the people they are with, giving them a freedom they couldn’t possibly have without a dog.”
