Arthur Price takes to the stage at the Grand

Cutlery makers extraordinaire Arthur Price are treading the boards in grand style – in a celebratory duet with the Grand Theatre in Wolverhampton. The historic Lichfield-based cutlery firm, suppliers to
the Titanic, the Royal Family and David Beckham’s wedding, is marking a year in partnership with the Wolverhampton theatre, graced down the years by the likes of Winston Churchill, Agatha Christie, Charlie Chaplin and Marlene Dietrich. The Staffordshire firm sponsors the Arthur’s of the
Grand Dress Circle bar, more commonly known as Arthur’s Bar, and has supplied more than 1,000 pieces of cutlery and silverware from champagne buckets to coasters and cocktail shakers. The premium cutlery firm formed a duet with the
Grand – whose origins date back to 1894 – when the theatre revealed plans to re-open the Front of House and bars with a £1.2m refurbishment. The renovation saw a complete transformation of hospitality areas to an Art Deco style which celebrates the Golden Age of stage entertainment. Simon Price, chief executive at Arthur Price, said:
“The association with a famous brand like the Grand is great for us. I first came here in 1970 for a pantomime with my dad – it was the first theatre I ever went to. “We are proud to be a sponsor at the Grand Theatre. The partnership has grown out of a mutual desire to
help one another flourish. “There is a natural synergy. Both companies have long
histories in the Midlands and have enjoyed success for more than 114 years. We both have associations with some of the greatest names of the 20th and 21st centuries. “The front of house and bar areas are now sleek,
stylish and glamorous, while the Grade II listed auditorium has always been elegant and impressive. These are all qualities which resonate with Arthur Price.” Adrian Jackson, chief executive at the Grand Theatre
and a professional musician himself, said: “The Grand has always been a passion and I have always been very passionate about this venue. This is not just about sponsorship, it is about
bringing people into a nice environment making them feel welcome. You have to make people feel special. It is all about making it more opulent, more of an experience – having the Arthur Price brand association completes the experience. “The Grand Theatre welcomes hundreds of thousands of people every year so by becoming a sponsor local businesses have the chance to showcase their brand to a captive and engaged audience. “As public funding is being withdrawn, businesses
also provide vital support to a Wolverhampton institution and ensure that future generations can enjoy live entertainment and world-class shows.” More than a quarter of a million people visit the
Grand Theatre every year. Other sponsors at the theatre include Wolves, Paycare, Britvic and Carlsberg.
