YMCA tour provides Israel cultural insight

The Sutton Coldfield branch of the YMCA Sutton Coldfield recently took 17 young people on a week long trip to Israel and Palestine, in order to find out more the situation in this troubled region. The trip included a visit to the Holocaust museum and places of religious significance, such as the Wailing Wall and Temple Mount, and camping in the desert near the Dead Sea. As well as the opportunity for cultural

discussion, there were also leisure activities, including traditional singing and dancing. The YMCA said that during the trip, the

young people had gathered a ‘real understanding of the ongoing conflict in Israel and Palestine and an awareness around the plight of the people who have been displaced, lost homes or have had their movements restricted’.
