College celebrates merger and ‘gold’ rating

Solihull College & University Centre is to merge with Stratford-upon-Avon College. Both colleges will keep their identity but

work together to develop more higher education, international and full cost courses and provide more opportunities and security for staff and students. Solihull principal John Callaghan

(pictured) said: “I am thrilled that we have been selected by Stratford as their merger partner. “We are aware that a number of high-performing organisations submitted very strong proposals, so I am proud that we have been selected. Each college possesses unique areas of expertise and this merger will enable us to maximise our combined strengths for the benefit of all students and staff. I look forward to a successful combined future.”

Stratford-upon-Avon College principal

Andrew Cropley said: “Solihull will enable us to offer our students greater opportunities, enhanced progression, and better facilities and equipment. The merger will allow us to develop deeper partnerships with local employers and to better serve the community of Stratford- upon-Avon.” Recruitment is carrying on as normal at both colleges, and the

aim is to merge by 1 January 2018. *Solihull College has become the

only college in the West Midlands to have

been awarded a Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) ‘Gold’ rating for its higher education provision. The college was judged on three areas:

teaching quality, learning environment and student outcomes and learning gain.
