Skip the bun, potato salad and go light on the beans, as they often have a lot of sugar as well. You can choose better quality meats, vegeta- bles and maybe some more complex carbohy- drates like quinoa, an ancient grain from South America. It contains fiber, protein and omegas (essential fatty acids). It is very versa- tile and can be used in place of rice, potatoes and pasta. Cauliflower is also a good substi- tute for those carbs and can even be made into a “rice,” “mashed potatoes,” and even the “bread” for a grilled cheese sandwich! We cannot buy it with all the riches and fame in the world. Sure, some have replaced organs, have had very expensive treatments and can afford a
bunch of illness-masking medicines, but that all takes its toll. The body is never the same after serious issues and disease. Of course it’s always best to avoid any of that. With no re- strictions I would tell you to have small serv- ings of meat and make them all grass-fed, free-range organic beef, free-range organic chicken, clean game meats like buffalo, bison and elk to name a few. Also healthy are a moderate amount of free-range, organic eggs, tons of organic vegetables and limited fruits. Always look for the humanely treated choices. It makes for better quality, and who wants to add to an animal’s suffering if we’re going to eat it? I always recommend organic, organic, organic! Local, farm-raised and farm-grown are the ultimate icing on the cake, but you can’t eat cake, remember?! Limit your dairy since it’s mucous-causing and no, that’s not just a runny nose. It coats your insides and then you don’t digest properly. Always choose organic dairy to avoid hormones and antibi- otics.

of information. The sugar industry recently got caught in a huge lie. They paid scientists to say eating fat was what was making people overweight and sick. Hence the low- and no- fat crazes were born. Have you noticed how obesity, diabetes and heart disease have steadily increased and are now at epidemic proportions? In truth, what makes people overweight and sick is sugar. That can come in the form of the obvious, like candy, baked goods, ice cream, soft drinks, etc., but it is also in all the things I mentioned before, like chips breads, pasta, potatoes and all other simple carbohydrates.
