Please, Keep on Rockin’ Me Baby!

We’ve all seen the
news reports about our rock stars leaving us at an alarming rate. It’s al-
ways shocking and heartbreaking when they pass. Somehow, we fans watching from the sidelines have a false sense that the beloved musicians that give us so much life-saving and life-changing music are immortal. After all, they have created the backdrop to our lives. Back in reality, we know no one is im- mortal and we are all too often reminded. For some of you, these artists are acquaintances, band mates and close friends, and it has to be scary, depressing and disconcerting to say the least. Well, I’ve had enough of sitting on the sidelines and losing those who mean so much.
Because of the work I do, I quickly
wonder what happened, and could I have done something to help save them? You see, I am an Integrative Health and Nutrition Con- sultant and Coach. That means I work with people, using a holistic, non-clinical ap- proach, to help them create and implement healthy lifestyle changes through diet and other health habits. I use nature, my training, common sense and bio-individuality to help assess and address each person’s health needs. When people are active participants in their own planning and goal setting, and have someone there for support and guidance, they are much more successful in reaching those goals and retaining those new habits for
greater health and happiness. Everyone is dif- ferent. No one diet works for everyone. No one exercise regimen is right for everyone. But they both sell a ton of books, don’t they?! Each of us has a unique set of genes,
likes, dislikes, wants, needs, etc. When ad- dressing happiness and health goals, I help a person discover his or her unique wants and needs. Maybe a person wants to lose some weight, maybe he or she is cursed with dia- betes and wants to stop and reverse its grip. Some people need help with their digestive is- sues, some need guidance in substituting the foods that are making them sick with ones that will make them well. Common health is- sues for performers can involve knees and hips from all that jumping around on stage. Before opting for surgery, there are natural routes to help alleviate symptoms and to stop and often reverse the effects of the damage. A lot of people need support and ac-
countability to make these changes. Creative people get frustrated when they are not creat- ing and this can lead to unhappiness. A lot of people are lonely and want to find the right person to share life with, but they aren’t hav- ing success. These are some of the ways I can help people make changes so they enjoy their lives more. Not only is it about helping to in- crease the fulfillment they have in life, but it’s also about helping to increase the amount of happiness and good health people have in the years they have left. Before I became a health and nutrition
coach I was a caregiver for many years and still work with a few clients. I have seen nu- merous examples of illness, suffering and de- pendence on medication and medical procedures. I saw a huge difference between the people who took care of themselves and those who didn’t. I do not want to be depend- ent on others for my well-being and I doubt
