Sounds like everyone works together real well. I've been watching, man all kinds of Marcus King videos now, theyre everywhere. So I was just watch- ing some this morning. Of course I en- joyed that one where you guys were playing up at Mountain Jam doing “Hot ‘lanta” with Warren. That was awe- some. Yeah that was a good time man.

That was a good looking shirt you had on too brother, that was a real hippie kinda thing. I liked it. (Marcus laughing)

The Marcus King Band

That’s cool. I mean, dealing with War- ren especially, that’s his hometown. There’s that.

So tell us about. . . name your band members, because, as great as you are you’ve got to have these guys with you. No man is an island, right? So let's give a shout out to the band members and tell their name and what they do. Yeah, that's one of the biggest parts of it for me, I can’t do it alone and I’ve got seven other guys on the road with me and you know we all look out for each other. I never had any brothers growing up so it the closest thing I’ve ever had to brothers, all the guys on the road with me. Drummer Jack has been with us the longest. His name is Jack Ryan, he’s been with us for about four years. Then our bass player is Stephen Campbell and he’s been with us a little over two years. And our keyboard and organ player Matthew Jennings has been with us about two years. On trumpet is Justin Johnson and on saxophone is Dean Mitchell.

I like that kinda stuff man being older kinda guy. So I wanted to ask you too about the album Soul Insight, when you went to record that, how did y’all decide how to go about getting it done? I remember getting it and thinking, this needs to be on a major label. And the next thing I know you’re signed to one. Well, we all got together in that time, me and my drummer Jack we’re the only ones that are still in the band that were on that record. So we were trying to look at what would be the most cost effective, most bang for our buck, and it worked out that we went to San Diego to cut it at a studio called Compound Studios. It was a grow house and a studio (laughing).

That's pretty nice. Convenient. So it was conducive to the recording process and at the same time we got a really cool sound there you know. (Laughs) I had the amp in the bathroom and got a good little tone that way. We had a real great time recording there and we were probably there about two weeks. Then we came back and re- leased it independently initially. And I think
