bunctious keys. Masterfully engineered hooks and

grooves sidled up with Popa Chubby’s bold and fearless guitar handling sets the table for an enjoyable and engaging listening experi- ence.

Easy Rider Soundtrack (MVD) Yes, this is the very

same Easy Rider sound track from the ultra-hip 1969 movie of the same name that starred Peter

Fonda, Dennis Hopper and Jack Nicholson. It’s the soundtrack of a generation, one that spawned what would become a classic rock radio staple, “Born to Be Wild” by Steppen- wolf. The fine folks at MVD have reissued this magic carpet ride on beautiful clear vinyl, making it even cooler than it already was. To refresh your memory, the album

also features the powerful emotions of “The Pusher,” also from Steppenwolf, along with several great tracks from both The Byrds and Roger McGuinn solo. The band Smith is on- board with their cover of “The Weight,” which was performed by The Band in the movie, but was not available for the LP. I loved The Holy Model Rounders (a

band that once featured playwright and actor Sam Shepherd on drums) and their “If You Want to Be a Bird” is included here. The Jimi Hendrix Experience rocks “If Six Was Nine,” and both the Electric Prunes and Fra- ternity of Man contribute to the king of all biker movies. One note I would like to add here is just

Darin and Brooke Aldridge Faster and Farther (Mountain Music)

North Car-

olina ‘s Darin and Brooke Aldridge

make beautiful music together, both as a hap- pily married couple and as performing part- ners, spreading the bluegrass on thick and with gusto. The couple has charted on the Ameri-

cana/Roots, SiriusXM, Bluegrass and Gospel charts. They have received multiple nomina- tions from the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA), the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America (SPBGMA) and Inspirational Country Music (ICM). Their music videos were heavily fea- tured on CMT, GAC, Bluegrass Ridge TV and The Bluegrass Situation. TV appearances in- clude PBS, Great American Gospel, The Blue- grass Road, Presley’s Country Jubilee, RFD-TV, Rural-TV, Daystar Network, Blue Highways TV, Songs of the Mountain, Wood- songs and Music City Roots. Brooke’s voice soars. From the first

track, “Kingdom Come,” I had visions of Na- talie Maines dancing through my head, and sometimes she does indeed sound like the Dixie Chick. Of course, one can spot many in-

how funny things go around and come around. My first copy of this album was on vinyl. I later had it on both cassette and 8- Track tape, and then CD. To my ears, this is the best sounding version I have ever owned. Pick it up, drop the needle and getcher motor runnin’!
