SPONSORS OF REGIONAL FOCUS
LLOYD’S REGISTER
Lloyd’s Register has long been a part of the Offshore and Marine landscape in the North East, with close links to the local business and academic communities.
Their combined histories are set to expand into the growing wind industry on and offshore. This is demonstrated by the recently awarded contract by Forewind to Lloyd’s Register for the certification of the Dogger Bank Met Masts to be located off the North East Coast. Breaking from the normal driven pile system Forewind is using a suction cup pile design transferring knowledge and experiences from other offshore industries.
PROVIDING SAFETY ASSURANCE The success of tomorrow’s sustainable energy solutions relies on using robust, reliable and safe technology. Lloyd’s Register has over 20 years experience in the Renewables sector and we can bring many benefits to projects, from the experimental offshore wind farm Beatrice to the on going structural certification of the Gwynt y Môr offshore wind farm sub-stations. Lloyd’s Register believes that assuring safety and achieving high technical performance comes from adopting a complete through asset life cycle approach.
PROVIDING SAFETY ASSURANCE TO THE WIND POWER INDUSTRY Since 1764 Lloyd’s Register and the east coast of England have had a long and proud history together, and that

PLAYING THEIR PART
Promoting the development of high quality industry standards is at the heart of Lloyd’s Register.
They have carried out peer reviews for standards, covering manufacturing, testing, reliability, safety and maintenance. We sit on, and steer, BSI and IEC committees. In the coming months they will be publishing their own guidance notes including: Guidance on offshore wind farm certification – Design, build and operational requirement.
