The film’s purpose was threefold:


• To educate • To promote the technology and • To bring the design concepts to life using stylised film and 3D visualisation


The film evokes and triggers an emotional response and conveys the promotion of InterTech’s business values throughout, which conveys new ways of thinking and working.


Using film they were able to visually show to viewers the context of the building the scale and proportions as well as demonstrating the key features in action, such as movement sensors and the wind turbine. Viewers get taken on a journey through the building with Adam Hart Davis.


BUILDING SPECIFICATION From the start of the film viewers get the perspective of the interior of the building which has a large cavernous space and striking atrium by which passive convection provides cooling in the summer and warming in the winter. The building only uses 3.5KW during the day and during the night this drops to 800W. The building uses ultra-energy efficient LED lighting and the building makes more energy than they can use in a year.


ENERGY EFFICIENCY


Therefore, the building uses less power by generating their own power from renewable energy. Where heating pipes run through the building, they are non- insulated. This helps to distribute heat energy from the boiler quickly which has the advantage of needing fewer radiators by using ambient heat as it travels around the building.


InterTech also have a rainwater collection process from the roof and the water is stored in underground tanks. The tanks are elevated so gravity runs the water, which is used as a ready supply for flushing toilets, cleaning windows and other tasks. The film is also able to bring the location of the building to life using a combination of filming techniques to demonstrate the aspect.


WIND ENERGY PLANS


InterTech has also submitted plans for a Micro turbine wind energy farm and the proposed new energy solution would harness wind from the Humber estuary.
