Conference Aston Birmingham’s biggest residential conferencing venue Conference Aston has promoted its senior sous chef Lewis Preston to the role of head chef. Lewis, who spent two years


working at the Hilton London Olympia and three years at the 7* Emirates Palace Hotel in Dubai, will now oversee the whole kitchen operation, from deciding where to source its ingredients to changing its seasonal menus. The 34-year-old said: “The kitchen


has changed dramatically over the last six months. I’ve got a team of 14 staff behind me and I’m looking forward to developing them, and seeing them improve their own skills in and around the kitchen. “Working in a conference venue is


so diverse. Every day we cater for the bar, the restaurant, room service, for VIP parties, meeting room buffets, large scale events and so much more. No two days are ever the same.”


Curium Solutions Birmingham-based change consultancy Curium Solutions has boosted its learning team with the appointment of learning and development expert Jo Rix, who joins from Mars UK. During her time at Mars, Jo held


regional and national account manager roles, as well as spending five years as a sales capability manager and coach within the Mars Chocolate division. Since joining Curium, Jo has


become an accredited TetraMap facilitator. She said: “I am passionate about


helping teams and individuals reach their full potential, working with them to uncover new ways of working or developing themselves. “Curium came recommended by a

Moore Stephens Moore Stephens has expanded its restructuring and insolvency team in the Midlands. Daniel Timms has joined the Birmingham office of the Top Ten


accounting firm as restructuring and insolvency manager after leaving his previous post as a risk management consultant for specialist finance provider, Trade and Export Finance Limited. Lee Causer, partner in the restructuring and insolvency team at


Moore Stephens, said: “I worked with Daniel earlier in his career and he has gone on to gain significant restructuring and insolvency experience. of business development manager at Swansway Volkswagen Van Centre Birmingham in St Stephens Street, Newtown. He brings with him more than 30


Virgin Trains A former customer services assistant at Birmingham New Street has risen through the ranks to become general manager of one of the busiest routes on the Virgin Trains’ network. Birmingham-born Natasha Grice has been appointed general


manager, EBW Route (Euston-Birmingham-Wolverhampton), which manages more than 11 million journeys per year. She said: “I’m incredibly proud to be taking on the role of general


manager for EBW. I couldn’t be more excited. The route is unrecognisable from the one we inherited back in 1997. The challenge is how we can build on that, working even harder to improve our customers’ experience whilst also looking forward to the opportunity to building for the next franchise.”
