Inspirational event for women’s day
Veteran broadcaster Anita Bhalla and communications expert Farzana Baduel were the guest speakers at an Asian Business Chamber of Commerce event to mark International Women’s Day. International Women’s Day is celebrated
throughout the world to recognise the progress that has been made to inspire women and to celebrate their achievements. Anita Bhalla, who has enjoyed a career at the
BBC spanning 26-years, is currently chair of Performances Birmingham Ltd (Town Hall and Symphony Hall), the Creative City Partnership and a board member of the Greater Birmingham & Solihull LEP. Farzana Baduel is founder and CEO of Curzon
PR, a strategic marketing communications agency used by international governments, corporates, luxury and cultural brands. ABCC director Anjum Khan said: “Over time,
International Women’s Day has evolved and now each year, thousands of events are held throughout the world to recognise the progress that has been made, to inspire women and to celebrate their achievements.

“The event attracted a wide range of
businesses from across the region and it provided an excellent opportunity to meet fellow members and enjoy a vibrant evening of networking in a relaxed atmosphere.”
Anita said: “There was a real buzz in the room,
upbeat and celebratory but this was balanced with a reality check of the task which still remains in front of us to ensure all women across the world have a fair deal free from exploitation.”
Partnering with Defence
Businesses have a key role in supporting the Armed Forces community, particularly our reservists, service leavers and the families of those who serve, bringing access to a pool of talented, wellmotivated and highly skilled individuals.
West Midland Reserve Forces and Cadets Association build and maintain relationships with employers in the region by creating strategic partnerships and cementing it via the Armed Forces Covenant: a voluntary pledge which builds a twoway relationship between business and defence.
If you are a business operating within the West Midlands and
