An Erdington-based leisure wear firm is getting ready to hit the beach with its products this summer. Airee Fairee, which sells everything for the
beach, from flip flops to towels, also sells nightwear and home furnishings, including throws and cushion covers. The company was recently searching for new
suppliers for its 2017 beach range, and sought help from Enterprise Europe Network. Airee Fairee’s Campbell McDiarmid said: “The
Enterprise Europe Network has provided us with possible new suppliers throughout Europe, which provide the manufacturing abilities we require for our ever expanding product line. “More specifically, we informed them we
require beach towels for upcoming summer 2017. So they put us in contact with a Turkish company Fy Moda, we worked closely with this company to design some beach towels, once we had confirmed the design and price, they made a production sample and once we approved it they started production. “Currently, most of our suppliers are based in

China, so having a supplier in Turkey really helps our business in several ways, the ability to be able to pick up the phone and speak directly with the supplier any time of the day is a huge convenience, instead of being eight hours behind the Chinese. “This will help our business improve as we can
manage the stock easier to avoid being out of stock as much as possible.”

Qatar opportunities Qatar and the UK have held the biggest business and investment forum between the two countries. The Qatar-UK Business and Investment Forum
was held in Birmingham and London. It attracted the largest-ever business delegation from Qatar, and was part of the government’s drive to create what it calls ‘a global Britain that works for all parts of the UK’. Qatari businesses presented the opportunities
their economy offers to the UK, while UK firms showcased high-profile ‘investment-ready’ projects. The event brought together Ministers and
senior government representatives from Qatar and the UK, including the International Trade Secretary Liam Fox and the Qatari Minister of Finance, Ali Shareef Al-Emadi. The latter said: “Qatar and the UK have a long
and productive shared economic history and we will build on this partnership as the UK shapes a new role for itself in the world. “Our plan to forge a competitive knowledge
economy is accelerating, providing new opportunities for UK businesses, while our plans for further investment in the UK will deliver job growth throughout the country.”
