Exhibitions & Conferences Planning the perfect

c away day orporate

By Melissa Penn, conference and events manager at the Drayton Manor Hotel

People are your most important asset, so if you invest in your team they will deliver success to your business. Corporate away days are an excellent way of improving communication

within a team, developing trust and leadership skills, and most importantly, rewarding staff for their hard work. It’s important to make these events the highlight of a company’s workforce calendar. Our ethos here at Drayton Manor is to ‘think different, experience more’. To make the most of your away day, location is key. An inspiring location

and relaxed atmosphere will help to improve creativity, boost team communication and re-energise your workforce. When hosting away days for businesses, it is pivotal that the location can

cater for companies of all individual needs, which is why at the Drayton Manor Hotel we have meeting room capacities from 12 to 500, as well as numerous outdoor areas (up to a staggering six football pitches worth!) It’s also crucial to have a team to look after any visiting companies and ensure their needs are fully satisfied, from catering to equipment. This allows the visiting company to focus less on time consuming pre-planning and focus on the objectives at hand. Spontaneity is always good during these occasions. As a theme park

we’re lucky as we can offer something that seems a millions miles away from the office, but spontaneity can be created in many other ways too,

even something as small as extra chocolate chip cookies during a meeting or conference can lift everyone’s spirits! Team building is undoubtedly a huge aspect of running a successful company, which is why last year we launched new attraction VertiGO. A high ropes attraction; VertiGO not only helps visitors face their fear of heights, but also tests even the most confident of thrill seekers. Your staff members will have to put their trust in one another as they guide their team around the course – will having a great deal of fun! Here at Drayton Manor, we think that a passionate, head-on approach is

always best, especially when organising engaging and interesting experiences for our away day visitors. We want each and every person to leave with the lasting memories of a corporate day out they’ll never forget. Drayton Manor Park Ltd, opened to the public in 1950 by the Bryan

family, is one of the UK’s most popular family attractions with over one million visitors a year. George and Vera Bryan OBE, converted 80 acres of derelict land, which once belonged to Sir Robert Peel, into today’s family attraction, combining thrill rides with a conservation zoo plus catering and conference facilities.
