►Excel, Database & Microsoft Office Training Consultant, West Midlands

►Saving you time and money

Name Andy Dawson

Company Curium Solutions Ltd

Job Title Managing Director

We can help make your Excel spreadsheets and databases fly or maybe train your team to be more confident with Excel, Word, PowerPoint ... Together, we look at what you do and how you do it then we find you ways of working smarter that guarantee fantastic timesaving and moneysaving benefits that will exceed expectations.

What do you need? ►Sparkling Spreadsheets or Dazzling Databases? ►Wicked Word documents? ►Popping PowerPoint presentations? ►Magical Macros? ►Terrific Training?

What does your company do? We are a consultancy business focused on helping businesses change and deliver key initiatives and projects. Simplifying how change gets delivered is key to our approach.

How did it all start? We set up in 2008, a week after Lehmans brothers had just collapsed so there was a lot of uncertainty. Ironically, it was a fantastic time to start as companies were happy to give us a chance.

What’s your greatest achievement so far? There are a number of things of which we are very proud. We have built a great team, moved into state of the art offices and have literally just launched in the USA. However, the thing that people comment on most is our client list incorporating fantastic brands and many household names.

If you could turn the clock back, what would you do differently? We’d probably have started to grow our consulting team earlier rather than using delivery partners. We’d also have brought the sales and marketing team on board earlier too.

What advice would you give to someone starting out? Ask for lots of help and seek guidance from whoever you can, if you don’t ask you don’t get. We asked Andy Street for some advice on what we should be doing next as part of a launch event for our new offices. As ever,

he was extremely helpful, as was Paul Kehoe at Birmingham airport.

Which business do you most admire? There are many great businesses, especially in the Midlands. Lord Wolfson has done a great job at Next for example. Closer to home I find the Sertec story a very impressive one, founded on great values which continue to be lived as described by Grant Adams at a recent chamber event.

What exciting projects is your business working on? Two things stand out: 1. We have just announced the launch of Curium in the USA, starting in Florida initially. 2. We have developed an online subscription-based learning portal called Curium on Demand, which delivers on our promise to make change sustainable.

What made you join Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce and how are you making use of your membership? There is a gap across the Midlands for what we do, and we want to be a key player in the region. There are fantastic businesses on our doorstep we have never met and what makes the Midlands stand out for me is how approachable everyone is. Whilst part of the reason for joining the Chamber was to extend our networks, we are also keen to help promote and support the region as well.
