training talk

build your business

“The OPI academy focuses on building your core business – through knowledge you can leverage your profit margin and grow your business,” Bryony comments. “Training is key for a successful career as a nail technician. Continued learning is a must to keep up-to- date with new trends and for skill building.”

Indeed, the brand’s syllabus offers a range of accredited training opportunities, from foundation to professional and advanced to expert.

For those just starting their industry career, the OPI Foundation Manicure and Pedicure Course equips you with the knowledge and skill needed to become a professional manicurist/pedicurist. Covering theoretical and practical elements, students are introduced to the OPI brand to enable them to carry out luxurious Spa manicures and pedicures and achieve effective results.

Other courses available include Absolute Acrylic by OPI, Axxium Gel System and GelColor by OPI – which Bryony reveals is one of the brand’s most popular options to date.

GelColor is a 100% true gel system which offers shine intense colour that is cured in 30 seconds. It allows trained manicurists to offer a complete colour service which will give clients weeks of glossy OPI colour. Throughout the duration of the one-day course, topics such as health and safety, contraindications, client consultation, application, removal, trouble shooting, and advice on retailing for home and aftercare are discussed.

Another hit with OPI techs has been the introduction of the Trend Tour, which teaches the very latest in seasonal nail art designs. The hands-on one-day class has been devised to show you how to master enhancement services, trending colour finishes and new nail art techniques, alongside showing how to put the brand’s business-building plan into action to help you build a loyal following.

“A big focus for the business is the continuing delivery of the OPI Trend Tour,” adds Bryony. “This allows us to bring the latest trends and innovations within the industry as well as skill building and business tips to various locations around the country to be accessible to all.”

the complete experience

When asked what makes training with OPI unique, Bryony responds: “Training at the OPI Academy immerses you in the complete OPI experience as it is in the OPI head office with access to every product SKU available in the UK and professional knowledge direct from the source.”

Currently, OPI employ 12 education staff to deliver training seminars. This includes Senior Educator Bryony McMillan (pictured), who also forms part of the brand’s A-Team.

The company also pride themselves on continuing to support students throughout their OPI journey. “For every student we always offer continued support and ensure they know we are just a phone call/email away, no matter how small the question,” says Bryony.

“We support customers with the tools they need to be able to complete the training successfully and that they are confident

enough to carry out treatments on ‘real’ clients.”

“We would always recommend delivering a complete OPI service synergising our range of systems to deliver not only the best cost per service but also an optimal experience to your client,” Bryony concludes.

The company will continue to focus on the delivery of the OPI Trend Tour during 2017 and beyond.
