OPI has been a familiar sight in salons and Spas for over thirty years, and continues to holds its status as one of the nail industry’s most recognisable brands.
Beginning life in the US during the early 80s, OPI was introduced to the UK by Lena White in 1983. A strong believer in education, Lena opened the first dedicated OPI training centre in 2002. Today, investment in the training of nail technicians still remains a crucial element to the continuing success of the company. “Education is key to maintaining the reputation of the brand,” says Bryony McMillan, OPI Senior Educator. “OPI takes pride in being a leader in innovation, therefore continued education is vital in communicating the best practice for all our ranges.”
Currently, OPI employ 12 education staff to deliver training seminars at their OPI head office and throughout the country at
various locations. Seeing an average of 80 students per week, the brand recognises the importance of having an enthusiastic and capable educational team in place.
“We strongly believe that OPI’s success in the UK is not only down to the amazing quality of the products but also the knowledge, expertise and passion of the team who deliver across all channels,” notes Bryony.
Recruiting a top team of educators was essential in setting up the facility and Bryony also forms one third of OPI’s A- Team who are integral to bringing OPI to A-list celebrities and many events. “The decision to also have our training facility at head office means that every therapist participating is able to immerse themselves in the world of OPI,” Bryony explains.
“We have [also] tried to ensure that all of our [additional] training centres are spread out over the UK, to be able to teach as many people as possible without them having to travel miles and miles.”
