Created for the nail professional, we uncover the story behind nail brand Moyra and the vast array of professional products they offer...
Earlier this year, industry educator, Paragon, secured exclusive rights over the UK import and distribution of Moyra nail products. Already an established name in its native Hungary, the brand launched 10 years ago with the aim to provide professional nail products for the nail professional.
Over time, word of this new industry offering began to spread. In the UK, Cheryl Ogden, Managing Director of Paragon Training Academy, was one such individual who took notice. After following nail artist Norka Andrea Szalay on social media, Cheryl was immediately impressed with the results achieved using the Moyra nail system. “I fell in love with the Moyra brand and I just had to have it,” says Cheryl. “I contacted Norka and was directed to the founder of the brand. I placed my first order in March and the product was as amazing as I thought it would be.”
Moyra Fact File
• The Moyra brand first started in Hungary 10 years ago.
• In 2016, Moyra UK / Paragon Training Academy became the exclusive UK distributor of the brand.
• Alongside the Moyra range, Paragon also distribute the PAVE Crystal Manicure range and Serenity, a collection of natural and organic manicure and pedicure products.
• Next year, Moyra UK will be exhibiting at May’s Beauty UK show at the NEC and are also sponsors of the event’s UK Nail Tech 2017 competition.
Yet it wasn’t just Cheryl who became a fan of the range. When Paragon’s team of educators and their students also began using and loving Moyra products, Cheryl realised the potential the brand could offer to UK-based professionals. As a result, she contacted Moyra’s headquarters directly to ask for exclusive distributorship rights. “We flew over to Budapest in July for a meeting with the founders – it was amazing. The brand is made within their factory on site [and] it’s just perfect. After a great meeting, I came home with exclusivity.”
driving trends
Since its inception 10 years ago, Moyra has won many industry awards and offers high quality products to give nail professionals the very best tools for artistic expression. With trends changing faster than ever before, the brand offers a kaleidoscope of colours, techniques and solutions and are committed to not only staying on top of the trends, but more importantly driving them.
The brand’s journey first began with the introduction of their nail polish range which proved to be a big hit and, to this day, remains a best-seller. Throughout the years, over 12 polish collections have been unveiled such as Stardust, Sea Salt, Bubble Gum, Sand, Classic, Gel-look and Holographic. “Moyra has given great thought to its products and have also launched a polish range for those little angels of yours,” notes Cheryl. “Moyra’s Kids Polish is water-based, none toxic, eco-friendly and odourless. [It is] easily removable with warm water and comes in 10 great shades.”
Thanks to the success of their polish, Moyra’s founders quickly recognised that further product expansion was needed. With this in mind, their gel and acrylic lines were next to launch which again became extremely popular.
“The gel range has a Base Gel which gives extraordinary adhesion to the natural nail plate [and the] Top Gel gives
extra brightness, durability and shine,” explains Cheryl. “Included in the range is also a Medium and Thick Viscosity Builder Gel, Premium Clear Gel as well as a Premium Ice Blue Builder Gel, which is easily seen [meaning it’s] great for beginners. The Builder White has a creamy texture which is highly pigmented [for] creating crisp smile lines.”
The gel collection also features several French Pink Builder Gels and Cover Gels, with various viscosities; over 100 highly pigmented Colour Gels with shimmers and glitters, plus a gel painting range full of highly pigmented vivid colours to create a variety of designs. “My favourite gel range is Supershine,” reveals Cheryl. “[The gels] are very pigmented and leave no sticky residue, so no wiping – perfect for nail plate decoration.”
The brand’s acrylic collection includes powders which are finely ground with Clear, White, Natural White, Soft Pink, Dark Pink, Cover Pink and Shimmering Cover Pink options. “It has good adhesion, [is] flexible, strong and non- yellowing,” states Cheryl. “Our Liquid Blue Monomer is easy to use with optimal drying time, brightens the colour and prevents yellowing. Our Coloured Acrylics are extra finely ground [and] highly pigmented with over 24 collections with mattes, pearlised, metal and glitters.”
