Healing Hands Network is a UK-based self-funding charity that is made up of volunteer Complementary and Holistic Therapists.


Our members offer their healing hands to support those who are suffering from the mental, physical and emotional after-effects of war, and who may be suffering from PTSD.


We offer support in our clinic in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and several outreach locations to people suffering after-effects of the Balkan War.


We also work in the UK supporting Veterans, serving personnel of the UK Armed Forces and their families.

Have a deposit system whereby all new clients pay 50% of the treatment price to secure their appointment, to ensure that those who are willing to pay the deposit are serious about coming.


It isn’t always easy getting the payment out of someone; I have clients who will pay it no problem mainly because they wish to continue to visit me and others who don’t. No amount of chasing them gets the payment and they are never seen again.


If a client phones to cancel or sends a message via email, text, Facebook etc. you can reply and explain that there is a charge and provide them with ways that this can be paid. Equally, if they phone you can explain – and most importantly take payment – over the phone. I would always follow it up if you haven’t received payment within three working days and just remind them. If I have to, I will chase someone three times, as a minimum, and if I don’t receive the payment or a reply I will not book them in again.


New clients are the most likely not to turn up as they have no relationship with you so if they annoy you it doesn’t matter, they don’t need to ever make another appointment with you as salons are ten a penny, and you won’t necessarily know what they look like so no problem there either. Because of this, I would always suggest having a deposit system whereby all new clients pay 50% of the treatment price to secure their appointment. Putting such a system in place ensures that those who are willing to pay the deposit are serious about coming, and if they do pay and don’t turn up all is not lost.


It is my opinion that cancellation policies are essential, and if nothing else they will act as a deterrent and reduce the amount of cancellations you get as clients will be more conscious of giving you sufficient notice so they don’t end up being charged for something they haven’t had.
