Are you a qualified therapist who would like the

opportunity to give back? a ‘royal’ occasion

The remaining days were focussed on creating a buzz at the show for our brand along with a live interview and technical session on the catwalk runway, positioned smack-bang in the centre of the show. The model that was provided for me was in actual fact the CEO of the show who I had met previously on another trip to Sweden. We wanted to create something unusual and something that hadn’t been done before, so we decided upon a Royal theme where the CEO would dress up like the Queen of Sweden complete with sash and I would hold a live interview whilst creating 3D Royal designs on the nails.

Now this all seems lovely and pretty straight-forward but the moment those spotlights are on you and the crowds start gathering, you know that it’s make or break time – there’s no getting away. I have a theory that men cannot concentrate on two different functioning tasks at the same time so being a male-tech where people expect a flowing conversation from you can sometimes be tricky. So usually whilst working I stop what I am doing, have a little conversation and then carry on with my work; however on this particular occasion with only a 50-minute slot to complete the art on 10 nails it didn’t leave me with that luxury. I can honestly say that I have never worked so fast in my life; those 50 minutes literally melted away as the questions kept flying in and the crowds kept gathering. I also had assistance on-stage by a very dear friend, Myy, who helped me complete the impossible to a very high standard.

After the session we had a Q&A forum and took some PR snaps. I can feel my adrenaline pumping again just writing about it, phew…

step out of your comfort zone

So with the trip over, my feet firmly back on British soil and not a meatball in sight, it’s time to conclude my Swedish adventure and offer a little bit of techy advice.

If you are one of the many types of tech that I talk to that are facing a bit of a wall, try taking yourself out of your comfort zone once in a while and do something that you wouldn’t normally do. In the UK there are plenty of beauty shows to attend that offer live demonstrations and talks from all sides of the beauty industry. If you are well practiced and have a passion for something, try sharing your knowledge and passion with others at one of the events’ live demo areas. The initial shock may be scary, but you won’t know if you are good at it until you try.

Have a wonderful month and keep fighting those January blues. Until next time…

Healing Hands Network is a UK-based self-funding charity that is made up of volunteer Complementary and Holistic Therapists.
