shape-up! new year
laser lipolysis
A number of your clients may be familiar with the word ‘Laser’ when associated with hair removal, Acne clearance, tattoo removal and skin rejuvenation treatments, but the technology is also proving popular as a method to help sculpt and shape the body contours.
Offering a pain-free alternative to traditional Liposuction surgeries, Laser Lipolysis is a minimally invasive procedure that uses heat from fibre-optic Lasers at various wavelengths in order to melt body fat.
Laser Lipolysis devices stimulate the fat cell membranes which causes them to lose their shape, which in turn allows the intercellular fat, or triglycerides, to escape the membranes into the blood stream to be used as energy. Furthermore, Laser Lipolysis also encourages the production of the protein collagen, thus helping to make skin tauter.
radio frequency
Ideal for contouring protocols, Radio Frequency devices can be used for fat reduction and toning skin on the hips, thighs, buttocks and other body areas.
During Radio Frequency treatments, the selected radio waves damage the fat cell membranes by heating them up to initiate a breakdown of the fat cells and promote the re-absorption and drainage of retained fluids and toxins, whilst also improving circulation.
“Radio Frequency heating disrupts fat clusters and over time causes new elastin fibres to be produced and results in a smoother skin surface,” explains Angela Barbagelata-Fabes, Chairman of The Carlton Group. “Non-ablative Radio Frequency energy is the newest addition to the treatment options available for cellulite and fat reduction. It is now possible to deliver Radio Frequency energy to the deep dermal and subdermal layers of the skin, whilst protecting the epidermis (outer layer of the skin).”
Thanks to its non-invasive nature, Radio Frequency can also be used in combination with different technologies to provide a comprehensive approach to slimming and body contouring. One such example is Vacuum therapy. “Vacuum boosts both the lymph and blood circulatory systems by
stimulating the underlying structures,” Angela adds. “For the body, Vacuum treatments help to break down the fatty tissue and cellulite, as well as improving lymphatic and venous circulation whilst toning and improving the appearance of the tissues.”
cryotherapy
Last year, Cryotherapy quickly became one of the beauty industry’s hottest buzzwords. No doubt this was largely due to the technology’s versatility – not only can it be used to treat skin imperfections and ageing concerns, but it can be utilised to aid inch loss goals through Cryolipolysis equipment.
“Cryolipolysis is a relatively new procedure that helps to induce a natural-looking reduction in fat,” say
Consultingroom.com. “It’s regarded as a non-invasive alternative to invasive fat removal procedures such as liposuction, as it requires hardly any recovery time.”
Cryolipolysis devices freeze the target area, without effecting surrounding tissues, causing damage to the fat cell membranes which ultimately leads to the dispersion of triglycerides into the blood stream. It can be used on such areas as the thighs, abdomen, arms and hips – which many find difficult areas to tone and tighten.
ultrasonic cavitation
Ultrasonic Cavitation treatments use selected sound waves to force pressure on to the fat cells causing them to microscopically implode, and subsequently release the triglycerides back into the blood stream to be used as energy.
“Cavitation treatments emit ultrasonic waves that ‘separate’ fat cells and cause breakdown in fat cells, while leaving all other tissues intact,” says Sharon Hilditch MBE, Founder of Crystal Clear International. “The vibration of positive and negative alternation of sound waves produces a strong pressure to fat cell membranes. As the fat cell membrane cannot withstand this pressure, it will explode into the liquid content. After disruption of adipose cells (fat cells), the broken fat in the form of triglycerides is released and eventually absorbed into the blood stream and excreted in your urine.”
“This gives instant inch-loss as well as a long term reduction in the really stubborn areas of fat that are typically resistant to exercise; such as the abdomen and outer thigh,” adds Dr Sam Hills, Clinical Director at Lynton.
