NovaLash has announced a new partnership with leading luxury salon, Paul Edmonds, who will exclusively offer NovaLash as its premium lash extension service at theHOUSE – a newly launched beauty offering within Paul Edmonds offering bespoke results-driven beauty treatments.


Leading lash artist, Gene Tevari and her team will be pioneering the service at Paul Edmonds, offering a five-star treatment and service. They will be trained in American Volume, NovaLash’s newest technique designed to create fuller, thicker lashes that last longer.

MUA named region’s best


Congratulations to GN reader Rachel Savine who has won the award for ‘Best Make-up’ in the West Midlands’ Region at The Wedding Industry Awards.


Rachel received votes from her many bridal clients to become shortlisted, before facing a judging panel of wedding experts.


“I must say I was lost for words and I am very proud to win this award and so thankful to everyone who voted for me,” Rachel told GN. “It’s wonderful to represent Shropshire and the icing on the cake for me as next year marks my 20th year in business.


“I am now up for the National Finals that takes place in London at the Café De Paris in the New Year, so fingers crossed for that one!”


Since setting up her own beauty and make-up business in 1996, Rachel has applied make-up to over 1,500 brides on their big day.

New CEO for VTCT


Alan Woods OBE has been named as new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of VTCT. Alan succeeds former CEO Dr Stephen Vickers who has stepped down from the role.


Alan (pictured) brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously leading on Apprenticeships and Vocational Education with the University of Law (ULaw) for the past 18 months. During his period with the University, he developed innovative new apprenticeship schemes and developed new partnerships with leading Further Education and 6th Form Colleges.


Natural beauty hotshots announced


The UK’s best natural beauty retailers have been revealed in the latest edition of the Natural Beauty Yearbook.


Voted for by the natural and organic beauty industry, the hotlist of 25 individuals provides a snapshot of the leading personalities driving the newest trends and products on the market. Top of the list was Sonia White, managing director of LoveLula, who launched the Boutique, ManOrganic and the Real Beauty Manifesto, and also the recent addition of Balm Balm.


Broadcaster and natural beauty advocate Janey Lee Grace, founder of Imperfectlynatural.com (winner in 2013 and 2014), was voted number two, closely followed by Kim and Alexander Barani, founders of Kinetic Enterprises. Kirstie Sherriff, co-founder of Pinks Boutique (last year’s winner), was voted fourth, and Francesca Morgante, label manager at NATRUE, was fifth favourite overall.


Other familiar names on the list include Kim Allan of Botanical Brands (17th) and Wendy Stirling of Botanicals (18th).


In addition, the Natural Beauty Retail Awards were also launched this year to highlight the valuable contribution and support of retailers to the growth of the vibrant natural and organic beauty market recognising companies such as Waitrose, Neal’s Yard Remedies and Debenhams.

Commenting on his appointment, Alan Woods said: “I am particularly looking forward to leading, with a great set of staff colleagues at VTCT, on new areas of work including: on-line assessments; working with employers to engage with new, higher and more bespoke qualifications; new partnerships with education providers and centres to develop outstanding Technical centres of excellence, particularly within Hair and Beauty Therapy, and to support the ambition of our employers to support the apprenticeship revolution that is sweeping the UK.”


The Government-approved awarding organisation has been at the forefront of developing the vocational system of qualifications in the United Kingdom since 1962. Its full qualification package includes Hairdressing & Barbering, Beauty Therapy, Complementary Therapy, Sport, Active Health & Fitness, Hospitality, Business & Retail and Learning & Development.
