Entry has now opened for this year’s annual nail competitions, Scottish Nail Tech and UK Nail Tech.
Sponsored by Cuccio, at each competition there are 13 different categories to enter, and the professionals and students who score the highest at each competition will be named overall winners.
This year’s categories at each competition are as follows:

• Top Tech Boxed Nail Art – Mixed Media
• Top Tech Boxed Nail Art – Hand Painted • Top Tech Photographic – Classic • Top Tech Photographic – Nail Art
• Student Nail Challenge • Student Permanent Polish • Student Boxed Nail Art • Student Snap Shot Challenge
This year’s art themes are Ibiza (Scottish Nail Tech) and Horoscopes (UK Nail Tech).
“We are very excited to have grown the Student competitions this year,” explains competition organiser and GN editor Melissa Dennis. “We wanted to introduce students to the photographic medium so our competition director Denise Wright devised the Student Snap Shot Challenge, where students create nails to the theme and then photograph them on their smartphone or tablet.
“Also new for this year is the format that the Top Tech Photographic entries are submitted. To enable pre- event judging, all photographs must now be submitted via email ahead of the competition. We’ve also created a Step by Step template document that entrants complete to ensure that judges can understand competitors’ thought processes and design ideas.”

Guild Press team expands
Guild Press welcomes Louise Bradley to the sales team, as she takes on the role of Account Manager.
Louise has over ten years’ experience in sales, and has trained as a hair and make-up artist. In her spare time, she runs children’s pamper parties, model makeover days and bridal hair and make-up to showcase her skills, so her knowledge of the beauty industry is extensive. Aside from this, Louise enjoys walking her Alaskan Malamute dog and spending time with her two sons, aged 11 and 14.
“I am really looking forward to meeting clients within the beauty industry and learning more about new products on the market; what girl wouldn’t?!” she says.
Louise will be working across our market-leading titles Guild News and Nail File, as well as trade shows Beauty UK, Hair UK, Barber UK, Holistic Health and Scottish Hair & Beauty.
