post-party skin rescue rescueme!

Within your post-party facial’s protocol, why not combine a traditional hands-on approach with your salon’s technological offerings. Microdermabrasion, Radio Frequency, light-based equipment and infusion delivery systems are just some options that can help boost the overall results.

add back the moisture

During Winter, dry flaky skins are commonplace, thanks to chillier temperatures and the swirl of central heating in the air. Yet when this is coupled with lack of hydration, no doubt suffered throughout the festive excesses, clients’ skin may be left feeling very parched indeed. Therefore, it’s essential to add back the moisture in order to transform a lacklustre appearance.

Hyaluronic Acid is one moisturising ingredient that is particularly effective to help skin feel silky smooth and plumped, as it can hold 1,000 times its own weight in water. Alongside creams and oils, advise clients to add an additional layer of hydration through serums, which penetrate quickly and deep into the skin thanks to their advanced formulas.

“Serums have smaller molecules than a face cream meaning that the active ingredients can travel deeper into the skin and create a better result in a shorter space of time,” says Salon Owner and Beauty Trainer, Marie- Louise Coster. “Due to the more gel-like texture, you will notice that a serum is more quickly absorbed into the skin and due to the higher concentration of active ingredients, you will often see a quicker result in a shorter space of time.”

beauty sleep

We all know the benefits of getting eight hours of sleep a night, especially as our skin gives away those tell-tale signs of sleep deprivation so readily. As we begin to get back into our regular sleeping patterns, this time of day plays an important reparative step in our skin care regimes, so recommend night time products as a great way in which clients can help the healing process as they snooze!

“Nocturnal skin care plays an important part in a daily skin care routine,” says Sara Prue, Head of Training at DermaQuest UK. “Skin does most of its regenerating at night, so it’s important to give it as much of a helping hand as possible. Another reason that skin does a good job of healing at night is that you don’t touch it when you’re sleeping. It stays fresh and clear, and doesn’t come into contact with make-up, dirt, debris, pollution or bacteria from your fingers.”

“Sleep is when the skin empties out and replenishes. Skin renewal peaks between 11pm and 3am,” adds Noella Gabriel, Co-Founder and Managing Director at Elemis. “It’s important to use a vitamin- packed night cream to coincide with these hours as night creams are designed to replenish, nourish and top up skin with any vitamins lost during the day. While the skin is resting, we have maximum skin cell respiration which makes night time a key time for skin renewal.”

diet detox

We’re all guilty of over indulgence during the Christmas holidays, especially with the plethora of goodies on offer. However tempting these treats may appear, a diet laden with salt, sugar and alcohol presents little nutritional value and can take its toll on the body – especially the skin, which is why January presents the perfect opportunity to detox.

Encourage clients to keep hydrated by upping their water intake and feeding themselves with fruits and vegetables high in antioxidants. In addition, why not boost their healthy habits even further by retailing a choice of skin- focussed supplements in the salon. Many leading skin care brands offer a variety of supplements alongside their cleansers, creams and lotions, packed full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants which can help skin, hair and nails alongside overall well-being.

beat the January blues

A great way in which to boost not only your clients’ complexions but also your business during the often slow month of

Treat clients to a post-party skin facial which could include the use of masks or sheet masks, exfoliators, toners and cleansers.

January is to hold a pamper event or evening aimed specifically at remedying post-party skins. Here, you can showcase your salon’s latest treatments and product offerings plus give advice to your ladies (and gents) to ensure they adopt great beauty habits throughout the course of 2016 and beyond.

“The grey January weather, long dark nights and threat of snow makes us all want to hide away in our PJs!,” says Natalie Roche, Founder and Director of Natalie Roche Ltd. “Set up pamper nights to lure customers away from their cosy couch, have some refreshments and give them the chance to see treatment demos (especially if you have something new on offer) and try something out for themselves at a reduced rate. Everyone loves a girls’ night and you can make your space the warm haven where your clients retreat to feel positive amidst the bleak whether and budgeting.”
