Deadline looms
The deadline for entering this year’s Chamber Business Awards is rapidly approaching. All entries must be received
before the close of business on 31 May. These are the only awards
regionally from which winners can go on to compete in the British Chambers of Commerce national business awards – offering not only significant kudos but also the chance of a cash prize. They are also the only awards in the region delivered by business for
business. There are 12 awards up for grabs this year across three disciplines –
business improvement, business engagement and business performance. The Chamber’s awards are free to enter.

Networking on the green
There is an old adage that big business is done on the golf course. So join the Chamber at Trent
Lock Golf and Country Club next month for an afternoon of serious business, networking and some fun. The event starts at noon with
registration, tea and coffee and bacon rolls followed by a short welcome from the Chamber. Then it’s out on to the course
for a shotgun start to 18 holes of golf at 1.30pm. The 18-hole Riverside Course at
Trent Lock has been designed to embrace a number of water features in a tranquil setting adjacent to the River Trent.
Traditional features add to the
attraction of the par 70 course which measures some 5,993 yards in length. Back in the clubhouse, a two-
course dinner will be served from 6.30pm, followed by the results of the day’s play and presentation of awards for the competitions. Prizes will be given for the
winning team, runner-up and third place, the longest drive and nearest the pin. Golf carts are available but
must be booked in advance by calling Trent Lock on 0115 946 4398. Pull trollies can also be hired on the day from reception. The driving range will be open
to participants before the event for those who want to warm up. The event is open to Chamber members only. It takes place on 24 June, noon to 7.45pm, at Trent Lock Golf and
Country Club, Nottingham, and costs £55 per person or £210 for a team of four.
