A practical way to an HR career path

Anyone wanting a career in human resources, or to advance their career prospects, should sign up for the Chamber’s CIPD Award and Certificate in Human Resource Practice. Based on six modules, starting on 18 May, the course is designed to give

practising or potential HR professionals a sound understanding of the knowledge, skills and behaviour required of the post. Completion of the course, which takes nearly a year, requires enrolment as

a student member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development. Day one of the course is the induction. Days two, three and four, which

take place on 19 May, 22 and 23 June will complete the first module and will provide an introduction to the role of human resources within an organisation and the environmental context. The second module is scheduled for 20 and 21 July and will look at the important contribution that accurate data can make to the HR function. It will cover the legal implications of collecting, storing and using personal data and will enable the learner to interpret, analyse and present information clearly and accurately in an appropriate format in support of organisational decision-making. Module three, on 14 and 15 September and 5 and 6 October, will provide

an introduction to employment law within the context of employee relations. Completing the first three modules will lead to an Award in Human

Resources Practice. The cost to reach this stage is £925+VAT. To continue to the next three modules to earn the Certificate, there is an

additional cost of £925+VAT. Module four takes place over three days in November, module five over three
