We’ve heard some pretty horrific stories over the years about people being broken into, here on the Costa Blanca. Some stories have made our hair stand on end, and we really feel desperately sad for the victims. We’ve heard of people being burgled not once, not twice, but three times.
And it seems that intruders are becoming more blatant when targeting villas to burgle. These despicable people are increasingly drilling out the lock barrels to enter your home and take anything
that doesn’t belong to them, leaving pain and misery for the property owners. It’s not necessarily the monetary value of the theft. For most of us living out here in Spain, it’s our memories, our possessions that we’ve built up over the years that mean something special to us, that can’t be replaced - that’s the hardest thing to bear. On top of that, it’s the feeling of being violated, stuck in the knowledge that someone has picked through your possessions without any regard for their victims and with absolutely no conscience. And that feeling of security in your own home after a trauma like this, is very difficult to get over. But there is something that you can do to protect yourself and your home against these sorts of break-ins and that is to take a really good look at your window and door security.
