Come to the Iris Gardens Tea Party at Marnes with the Calpe and Benissa Lions
Christine Lomer and Nick Brown have lived in Marnes for many years. They started with barren land and over the years have planned and developed a gardeners delight, set in the hills near Bernia.
There are 50,000 + spring bulbs, 1000 roses and 500 different varieties of Iris, all flowering from Spring to late May producing a world of colour, aromas and scenes that are a delight to walk around.
The garden is open to the public every day from late March to late May but every year, Christine allows the Calpe Benissa Lions Club to take over the gardens for an afternoon Tea Party to raise funds for Caritas. This year, Wednesday 13th May from 4.30pm - 6.30pm you are invited to join them whether it is your first time or you have visited the gardens before.
Christine and Nick are retiring so do not miss this opportunity to see the gardens and say goodbye to them. As well as enjoying the plants, countryside and scenic views, you will meet with other like-minded people and be treated to tea, coffee and homemade cakes.
The event is always well supported so you are advised to buy or reserve tickets beforehand as the numbers are limited due to the access and parking. Coaches cannot be accommodated but small buses (up to 24 seats) are possible.
Tickets at 8€ can be purchased at the Lions Community Charity Shop, Calle Pintor Sorolla 15, Calpe during opening hours 10am - 1pm Monday - Saturday, or by calling Lions President Bob Sydney on either 636 695 569 or 965 973 822, alternatively email Bob at
elaineandbobinspain@gmail.com or contact any Club member.
