Emotional Support for Teenagers
Readers may have heard of the work of the Samaritans but may not know that the Samaritans also operate a support service across the whole of Spain and can support youngsters at school not just adults who may need their help.
The Samaritans receive many enquiries from people of all ages from younger teenagers to those well into their old age with a range of different problems. Contrary to popular belief only 1% of any callers are those with suicidal feelings.
Increasing numbers of younger people are emailing or phoning the helpline with a range of issues which affect them and are offered a confidential support service. The main aim is to listen to callers and be non-judgemental and supportive.
Posters and leaflets have been sent to over 50 schools who are members of the Association of British Schools in Spain to raise awareness among younger people that Samarians in Spain can help them deal with all sorts of issues.
If you are a teenage reader yourself or have youngsters in your circle of family and friends you may wish to find out more by visiting the webpage
