Antiques shops and regular fairs have made Lostwithiel the antiques capital of Cornwall. Now, with a choice of delis, lifestyle shops, excellent restaurants and pubs plus an award winning produce market, the town is attracting a growing number of visitors and tourists. With good road links, a mainline railway station in the centre of town, and ample free parking, visiting couldn’t be easier. It’s not just the shops which draw the crowds; Lostwithiel’s calendar is full of festivals celebrating food, music, arts, antiques, beer and cider.
Next is the small village of Par with a very attractive beach, and Cornish Market World, a retail complex of individual market traders, and a large indoor children’s play shed. For a scenic Day Out join the Atlantic Coast Line at Par and see glimpses of mining and environmental heritage.
Some of the finest chefs and award winning restaurants are found in South East Cornwall, whether it is fine dining you are after or just good pub grub there is plenty on offer. With an abundance of locally produced meat, vegetables, cheese and freshly caught fish landed daily, you are spoilt for choice. There are so many locations to choose from – a café or restaurant down by the water’s edge, a Cornish Cream tea at a delightful spot in the countryside, a candlelit dinner overlooking the river, or a pub lunch in a countryside inn.
You will want to return to the Forgotten Corner of South East Cornwall.
