Padstow Fish & The Camel
Padstow is situated on the west side Camel estuary in an area of outstanding natural beauty with an extremely mild and benign climate, wonderful bays, beautiful golden beaches and crooked streets sloping down to the harbour where many fine medieval buildings can be seen.
Padstow harbour has a fleet of fishing boats arriving to off-load their hauls, and there are yachts, small boats etc., to be seen. The beaches are within walking distance of the harbour, or a short drive along the coast will take you to some of the finest beaches in Cornwall. With its wonderful views Padstow is ideal for walking, golfing or a short break any time of the year.
Dining out in Padstow is certainly no hardship, there are a number of restaurants, cafes, pubs & inns making the most out of fresh fish & Cornish produce. Accommodation is plentiful with the usual choices.

CARNEVAS HOLIDAY PARK is a short distance from Padstow and the wonderful beaches of Porthcothan, Treyarnon and Trevose. We are surrounded by a wealth of opportunities for enjoyment, and the legends of Cornwall to investigate. Whether it is a weekend break or longer in our caravan park/campsite or luxury self catering holiday cottage we are sure to have something for you. Facilities include a laundry, shop and play equipment for the children.
The Camel Trail is eleven miles of converted rail track running alongside the River Camel linking Bodmin, Wadebridge , Padstow and Camelford. Vehicles are not permitted as it is designated primarily as a cycle track and is wheel chair friendly. However it is also used for walking, jogging, bird watching or merely for a DAY OUT enjoying the countryside.
Across the Camel estuary the small town of Rock can be accessed via windy roads, or by the foot ferry/ water taxi from Padstow. Eating out in this area reflects its exclusivity with Michelin star restaurants, four star accommodations, complemented with art galleries, and high end quality shops. For those who prefer the normal there are a plethora of choices.
THE ROCK INN is situated on the waterfront with superb views looking out towards the estuary and Padstow. Offering quality food and rooms at reasonable prices in a contemporary ambience in which to relax and unwind. This is a welcoming and friendly venue with a first class service to ensure you are spoilt whilst your there.
A mile long family and dog friendly beach is Daymer Bay, there is no surfing here but the sheltered waters are very popular for water- sports, fishing, and boat trips. There are several golf courses in the area.
To the right of Daymer Bay there are many rock pools and Greenaways a small beach accessible from Tristram car park. To the left of Daymer Bay is Braey Hill offering views of Hawkers cove, the Doom Bar and Stepper Point (sleeping Dragon).
Back to the north Cornwall coast and Polzeath. There are stacks of things to do in this village and the amazing scenery is awesome and inspiring. The beach is one of the world’s most renowned surfing destinations. Whilst the beach is family friendly there can be large waves with rip currents so care is needed with children when playing in the water. The beach is home to the Voluntary Marine Wildlife Reserve, and dolphins can be spotted at times as can many types of coastal birds including puffins.
Within walking distance of the village there are some interesting places to visit; the village of Rock, Daymer Bay, Pentire point, St Minver, Trebetherick, all of these places can be reached by local coastal paths that offer spectacular views over looking Cornwall’s rugged coast line and out to the Atlantic Ocean.
At low tide from Daymer Bay it is possible to walk around Brea Hill to Rock and take the ferry to Padstow, at high tide the path is over Brea Hill to St Enodoc golf course, then to Rock. Going east there are fantastic coves, wildlife, rugged cliffs and views over looking the sea and land stretching for miles. New Polzeath, Lundy Bay, Trebarwith Strand, Port Isaac, the Rumps in the Iron-Age cliff castle with ramparts, and more to see as far as one wishes to walk. The coastal footpath between Polzeath and St Enodoc is wheelchair friendly.
