On the A38 between Liskeard and Plymouth is the famous TRAGO MILLS, with thousands of bargains across 38 departments. There is also a delightful riverside walk, with BBQ and picnic areas, plus a café and restaurant. Keep an eye open for the peacocks!

Liskeard is a great place to visit. Come and explore the independent shops, many of which retain their original Victorian shop fronts. The town is over 1000 years old with many original buildings deigned by Henry Rice; you can pick up a copy of the Henry Rice Trail at the Liskeard Museum or at Stuart House.

There are often concerts and other events in the town, drop into the Town Information Centre for details of what’s on. While there why not pick up a copy of the Heritage Trail pointing out all the places of interest including the Pipe Well. Another local beauty spot is Golitha Falls where you can take a walk through beautiful ancient woodland alongside the River Fowey. A pleasant way to spend a Day Out is a trip on the Looe Valley Line which passes through the very picturesque Looe Valley and the river with the remains of the old Liskeard – Looe Union Canal running alongside each other.

Leaving Liskeard there is Dobwalls, a pretty Cornish village and nearby Doublebois on the A38 toward Bodmin.

HOBURNE DOUBLEBOIS is in easy reach of the dramatic Bodmin moors, Padstow, Newquay and the Eden Project. A holiday here is a very different experience, more of a country hideaway.

Boasting a seriously good nine hole golf course, and offering only luxury lodge accommodation with no clubhouse, your holiday is a haven of peace and calm. The only challenge is to work out how many rounds of golf you can fit in your stay. The selection of self catering lodges at seems to blend effortlessly into the Cornish countryside surrounding the park. ‘Log cabin’ in style and offering features including Sky TV, en suite shower rooms, DVD players, and large verandas, there is plenty of choice of style, layout and facilities. These premium lodges in a breathtaking setting are in high demand as it is quality not quantity which counts here. No overcrowding, no noise and bustle - even at full capacity, you’ll feel truly in touch with nature and the countryside. Facilities to ensure the park remains true to its stunning backdrop, features here are kept to a purposeful and calm minimum.

After leaving Dobwalls take the A390 to Lostwithiel, St Austell and the Cornish Riviera coast. Lostwithiel is a small ancient small town knee deep in history and has been described as Cornwall’s hidden treasure. Whether you are here for the day, a weekend break or a longer holiday this is an ideal base to explore the Fowey Valley, the unspoilt beaches of South East Cornwall and the Cornish Riviera.
