Woolacombe, Ilfracombe, Lynton and Lynmouth.

Crow Point is on the corner of Saunton Sands and the Taw estuary in the Braunton Burrows Biosphere Reserve. Drive or cycle over Braunton Marsh from Velator at Braunton. A boardwalk gives access to the dunes and there is a river beach. In summer there is a modest toll to pay on the private road that leads to Crow Point car park.

Barnstaple is the largest town in North Devon and where the history of famous folk and so much more is illustrated in the Barnstaple Heritage Centre. The Green Lanes shopping centre, plus the entire range of brand named shops are here, and the historic Pannier Market has stalls with items that are not seen elsewhere.

The live events on the Square in the town centre draw big crowds. The Annual Fair is held on the Wednesday before 20 September each year; the Town Council meets in the Guildhall, where various toasts are made according to tradition and whilst the toasts are being honoured ‘fairings’ are handed around. On the reading of the Proclamation a large stuffed gloved hand, garlanded with flowers, is hung from a window of the Guildhall representing the hand of friendship and welcome to the thousands that come to the fair.

For sport there is plenty from rowing to a round of golf and much more. For those who love cycling the Tarka Trail is a track along the rugged Atlantic Coast, to the estuaries of the rivers Taw and Torridge through rural Devon countryside and onto the Northern slopes of Dartmoor. The trail between Barnstaple, down the Taw and upriver to Bideford, following the Torridge to Torrington is a disused railway line, also suited for walking.

For all cycling requirements the TARKA TRAIL CYCLE HIRE Company, located at the Barnstaple Railway Station, will be pleased to help.

Going a little inland from Barnstaple on the North Devon link road with the M5, South Molton is the first north Devon town coming from the M5 and is a great base for exploring Exmoor, the beaches and the many villages and hamlets in the region.

In the town there is plenty to do for visitors of all ages. There is a Honey Farm and a town trail with lots of information on the history and architecture of the town, plus some excellent walks through stunning countryside and a cycle network across north Devon to Exmoor.

QUINCE HONEY FARM is a unique attraction featuring Bee world, a uniquely designed indoor apiary with interactive buttons to open the hives. There is a brand new Critter cabin in the play hive area where you can also sit and relax in the cafe. They will be holding bee beard events in the new building above the new museum. This is a great DAY OUT for all the family.

For a stay with a difference, the DEER’S LEAP at nearby West Anstey is a beautiful retreat that nestles into to the edge of Exmoor National park. The farmhouse sleeps up to eighteen people and is the perfect place to get away and completely relax. Whatever you need you will find it here on a holiday or at a course or retreat.

ROMANSLEIGH HOLIDAY PARK is four miles from South Molton on the B3137 to Witheridge and two miles from Alswear village. To find the park turn right after the second caravan sign at Odam Cross Bridge and then left at Odam Barton Farm, then take the right hand fork for a quarter mile.
