DIARIES continued from pg 59
“Your Ottawa Plumber”
warmth and relaxation ETA advises you should have
2,000 km ride experience before taking on the islands. I suggest a rider should be very comfortable on his bike. The roads can be narrow and rough with some grade at times. I would say expert riding is needed in some areas. If you go, know your bike and the braking. Avoid too much front in loose gravel or down steep grades. We were advised, when going down a steep wet grade, to use the rear brake only. However, if you know your bike, you will know when to use the brakes. I descended using both. As I sat at the bottom in a flat away from the hill, I watch an Indian, using rear brake only, stop a foot too late and rear ending a Harley beside me. The motorcycles took us to
areas and beaches that other cruise ship tourists are not able to get to. We had a great time. We met several interesting people. It was neat to see the reaction as we rode into towns and beaches. The scenery was incredible (and I have 2097 photos to prove it!) If you’d like more
information about these cruises, go to the ETA web site: www.
cruise-eta.com . See you on the roads!
